Moving along . . - end of weekend
Made it through Sat and half way through Sunday; feeling okay. Just letting the days happen - not thinking too much about it. I find if I put too much emphasis on the fact that I haven't gambled, and how long, etc., that's when I have rationalized and allowed myself off the path... (for being so good) One thing I've tried to do also is NOT talk about gambling in social settings . . talk about everything else and if someone talks about a casino or something related, I just listen and don't feed into it. I also try to gently change the subject. Most of these friends that we've gotten together with know I like to play the slots but don't understand that it became a real problem. I think if I "act as if" I'm not interested anymore, I will think of myself as a non-gambler, which I want to be or a gambler in recovery, whatever you want to call it. That way I'm not making it "okay" to head off the casino since I am now a NON GAMBLER. :] People we know will also then begin to think of me as a non-gambler if I don't show interest in it. Don't know if that made any sense to anyone,Take care, and talk soon,Smokeygirl

Congrats on another weekend GF.... Everything you said made sense to me, I\'m right there with you girlfriend!!!
Yes and I \"came out\" because none of my friends knew about my addiction. So now all know I belong to Gamblers Annonymous and I don\'t want any talk about casinos and if my friends did talk about it, they wouldn\'t be in my company for long because that is rude. Just like drinking liquor around an alcoholic. My new group of friends do not go to casinos and the old group quit calling or seeing me since they found out. You know, misery likes company? So next time you around your friends you could mention.... I want to tell you all that I am attending meetings at GA and I would appreciate any help you can give me in not mentioning gambling around me. They will look shocked and then they will hug you. hugs from me because you are doing soooo well. Barb
