Moving along . . - end of weekend
Made it through Sat and half way through Sunday; feeling okay. Just letting the days happen - not thinking too much about it. I find if I put too much emphasis on the fact that I haven't gambled, and how long, etc., that's when I have rationalized and allowed myself off the path... (for being so good) One thing I've tried to do also is NOT talk about gambling in social settings . . talk about everything else and if someone talks about a casino or something related, I just listen and don't feed into it. I also try to gently change the subject. Most of these friends that we've gotten together with know I like to play the slots but don't understand that it became a real problem. I think if I "act as if" I'm not interested anymore, I will think of myself as a non-gambler, which I want to be or a gambler in recovery, whatever you want to call it. That way I'm not making it "okay" to head off the casino since I am now a NON GAMBLER. :] People we know will also then begin to think of me as a non-gambler if I don't show interest in it. Don't know if that made any sense to anyone,Take care, and talk soon,Smokeygirl
