Mother... Not going to see her today
So, I call my TDoc "mother", not to her face but as a secret language between my wife and I. My first therapist back in the military, was the spitting image of my mother. She would hover there in dark corner and make pronouncements on my sanity. The current TDoc looks like the crypt keeper, but she is very experienced, and I like her a great deal. Far better of a counselor. I never knew how bad the first was till the second. But, anyway, I am going to canx today's appt. My wife, who was asked to attend, is bailing because she does not believe in therapy and can come up with an excuse not to participate. I can not move forward without her, and I see no reason to go without an objective to obtain. My guilt and shame are wrapped up into her, and without direct involvement, there can not be forward movement. So, I can't move forward; there is not a reason to waste my time

I am sorry to hear this- I hope your wife changes her mind and wants to participate in your treatment- moving forward is so important- hugs
Thor, I believe that you can move forward with or without your wife participating. Please take down this roadblock. Healing hugs.
OK... big fight. The wife has now refused to ever go and she thinks that I should stop all therapy, stop taking all drugs and just stop all of this "silly nonsense". I can tell those on this board, doing do would land me in the hospital with an attempt and I would not get out of the hospital for a long time. How do I deal with this. Maybe I should to show her what happens. Just cold turkey. Throw it all away.
Also renaming the TDoc from Mother to Hippy. She keeps wanting me to try illicit drugs. Sorry, but Ketamine is not FDA approved, nor is marijuana or acid. We listened to a song she heard today, well yesterday. Then she sang the last half off-key. This is starting to become torture.
Think you need a new Pdoc. Sorry that your wife has no idea that mental illness is not something you just decide to get over. No need to prove it to her. Just keep doing what you need to do, and perhaps discuss it with her less. Supportive hugs.
