More thoughts

I had a therapist once say to me in his observation "you need a whole world Mark.." I rolled it around in my head and remembered back to that as a kid I used to make little worlds out of found moss, sticks, leaves and creatures from the stream near my house. Diaramas etc.. too. I'm mentioning this because I thought about the concept of grace in Christianity that is something that spans and attempts to unify the diversity in humanity. I started to observe in the sisters in their diversity as well as mine to conclude that everyone needs a different amount and type of consideration to live in the grace of their preference and need. Including me.  I thought about the "need a whole world comment" which at one time may have been more apt.

At the moment I'm just learning to be brave enough, and not fractured, to see those needs and my personal and professional pursuits

together in one picture. And so sewing together the separate thoughts and observations at last, into a rational positively managing way forward instead of derailing at a mental blip in the road. Indeed I think I can!!

Do you feel like she was saying your only seeing one part of the world and need to participate more?

No it was about the state of my emotional frailty and needing things so specific in order to be ok in the world.

how ironic is it that the more i take human diversity at individual face value, the more i feel our connectivity?

when i lose myself in the need to question and understand all the picayune details of what makes us, you and them, i create blockages and disconnects with each probe of doubt and/or ignorance. when i take each individual at face value, i shift to a space where life is more a journey of discovery than a tightly structured classroom where there will be a final exam by which i will be judged for eternity.

my job is not to understand you. my job is to just love you until you understand yourself.

And having moved to a monastery across the country 3,000 miles from everything and everyone I know is kind of proof in the pudding that I gravitate towards ….a ‘whole world’ eh?
