More Keep the Change reflections

Exercise 5: i have already started exercise 5.  The Cup of emotions is exrcise 5.  Since going to see Dr tom, we have found a BIG rock in my cup, lol.  When i get stressed out, i try to play a video game.  That helps me calm down most of the time.  The other thing that i used to do, was smoke.  I know that is a bad example, but it is what i used to do.  I used to sleep a lot too.  I was stressed a lot because i was not getting sleep as i should. Now, i am getting wonderful sleep because of medication and god.
this next question, the answer is easy, but part of my problem:  When i face a setback or discouragement, what helps me process things?  I dont process things.  When bad things happen in my life, i get into 'fight or flight' mode and just go crazy.  i know that is not the correct way to do things.  Since all of this divorce and seperation things have gone down, when i get a setback or something discouraging, i pray before i react. When i got my divorce papers yesterday, i read them, started crying, and fell to my knees and prayed.  I prayed long about it and asked god if that is what he is asking of me?  I felt inside that the answer was no.  I thought about it and prayed a lot of the time last night.  Lately, i have been praying about everything i do or want to do, and ask god if that is what my calling or path calls for.

My heart hurts for you, Will. That\'s so hard when you see the papers for the first time. I remember how it was. You keep doing your work on yourself - there\'s hope! It may not turn out how you want, but the work you are doing is great and I believe it will yield good results in your life. I\'m praying for you, Sarah, and the kids.

I too send you my heartfelt prayers. As I think you know, I\'m Jewish not Christian but we all share a profund belief in the power of prayer. My spiritual counselor recommends that we recite the Psalms as well as our own personal prayers, saying that the psalms are a very powerful tool that we\'ve been given that may open up channels on high to allow blessings to flow into ourr lives. I\'m in no way trying to proselytize, but only to share something from my tradition that you might find helpful. If you are interested, look at Psalm 20. The second verse of this chapter beseeches G-d to answer our prayers in times of trouble. Also take a look at Psalm 32..

Sendin blesings to all

My prayers are with you too. I am so pleased to hear you are turning to prayer everytime you feel stressed. God can help you with the burdens you are having to bear.
Sarahleah is so right there is so much wonderful advice and comfort in the Psalms. They are such a gift to us. There are Psalms for just about everything we have to deal with in life. May you be truly sustained and guided by your faith. That is what will bring you through all of this. You are doing so much of the right things to help yourself, keep it up!!
