More good news Bladder is feeling better

My bladder is feeling better.  I got my supper pubic catheter put in five months ago. The first set up should only be in for 1 month & get changed over to a foley catheter. While in hospital (reg) they would not listen to me telling me that it said follow up appointment for when I leave. When I came to the long term hospital it was in by that time 2+ months got infected, I finally got to see the urin doc & he said it was too infected to change over, he sent me for a new set up & to clean the site. Well today he took it out & put in a reg foloy (although in the super pubic site) the pain in my bladder is gone, it was a hard plastic pig tail that was scrapping the inside of my bladder, The relief that I feel is wonderful. The bleeding has stopped as well. It seems funny how a little screw up can cause so much discomfort, how do we get through the pain & worry.

They have an exercise program here that is out/in patient. It is run by the CPA (canadian parapaligic asso) to get people in wheelchairs/walker etc. as strong as they can be so they can be as independant as possible. I want to start that soon. In part I want to get to know the people who run it, get into the routine in going.  I also think it might be good to exercise my legs mon/wed/fri & arms tues/thurs that way I won't be over tiring my body.

I think I will be sleeping tonight. For the last few nights on mega dose steriods I have not slept well only a couple of hrs. I am off of them now so things should be getting back to normal.
The new painkiller does not seem to be doing anything. Talk to the doc about it the next time I see him, to see what he thinks.
The movement is getting better in my legs once again. The steriods did their job. My arms are moveing well but they are weak, I need to start to work harder on them, but I still have to remember not to over do things.
Another good thing, Bruce brought me in a cabinet to sit a kettle/ tea things/ coffee etc.. I can now make my own coffee/tea in my room without help. That little bit of independance makes so much of a difference.

I\'m so glad they finally listened to you and got everything squared away with your cath. If the Docs would just listen to their patients, they would learn a lot. I hope you start sleeping better soon. With more rest, I know you will feel stronger, can exercise more and get home sooner. That will make you, Bruce and your furry child happy.
Gentle hugs, Linda
