OK, so with all the bs my ex did to me, when others hear of it, they are shocked, give me pity I don't want, than DO THE SAME DAMN THING!! I deduced what was going on from all the usual, and slow ways that always come together.

When people give you/us pity, they are degrading you/us. I don\'t need pity. You dont need pity. Pity depersonalizes the individual and makes her a source of pity and nothing more. You are right.
I\'m with the above. To me, pity is the smiley face of contempt. Compassion I will accept; sympathy and empathy, absolutely. Pity? No thanks. Pity\'s smile always hides contempt\'s sneer in my experience.
We all deserve better.
