Mondays seem pretty bad for me and I don't know why!
Mondays seem pretty bad for me with the grief and I don't know why. I am getting better after eight months but Mondays now are hitting me hard. I am having longer good days and shorter bad days. I just can't figure out why Mondays now. I have always hated Mondays but why does it hit me in the pit of my stomach with all the grief. I just don't understand. Have any of you hit the eight month mark since the loss of your husband or special person in your life? How are you coping with it? How is the grief hitting you now? I would like to know if I am perfectly normal or not. On top of the grief is the job search which is not easy for me after all I am 54 years of age seeking a receptionist job. I think there is an age disccrimination thing but no one is allowed to say it. They want younger women at the front desk. So between the grief of the loss of Smokey my husband and no luck with the job hunting thing, I am so overwhelmed with everything. I am only seeking a part-time job but open to full-time. It is such bad economic times. It sucks. I cried a bit this morning as well. It is hitting me in the pit of my stomach. I hate to say it but I just don't want to keep living without Smokey in my life. I still feel that way after all this time. I have gotten rid of Smokey's things that I did not want. The apartment is looking great. I have to figure out how to work the steam cleaner as I have carpet in the bedroom only. The rest is laminated floors and easier to clean. The carpet in the bedroom is disgusting and I would love to have laminate floors instead of the carpet. Smokey would always go directly into the bedroom to get out of his work boots and clothes. There is stains on the carpet that won't come out. It is life. I don't care what anyone else says but I would rather have Smokey in my life than live this way without him. I would give up the neat, organized and clean apartment just to have Smokey back in my life. I missed him last night as I was going to sleep. I cried. He was my best friend, lover, partner, companion and rolled into one nice package. I thought my libido had died with Smokey. It came back. No one in my life at the moment so I need to go for walks or cold baths. It is just the side effect of being alone now after ten years with Smokey. Does it get any easier? Do you learn to live with the hole in your heart? Will I ever turn my life around in a positive direction? Am I holding on to the past? Do I need to let go? What am I doing wrong? So many questions but so few answers. I feel like a hampster running around in the hampster wheel but getting no where. What is life all about anyways? Where do I go from here? What is the point of all this anyways? It all seems so trifle and useless and futile. God can take it all. There just doesn't seem any point and doing anything from a frustrated Diane

Hi Diane, I am sorry you are having bad Mondays. I too am at the 8 month mark. You are not doing anything wrong, you\'re just feeling natural emotions. I do not feel that it is getting easier, I am just doing what I have to do. I am still very angry and sad that I do not have Tony to grow old with and have to live alone in a house far inferior to my own, terrified that I will not make it financially, and just sick and tired of it all, like you are. It is just all SO wrong! Maybe some of us learn to live with the hole in our heart, but it is not happening for me yet. I know you mean about the stomach feeling, I had it last weekend while we were moving my furniture. I am doing my best with moving to the rental house because I have no other choice. I have to get out of this house. Can you go out and do something that you enjoy on Mondays to distract yourself? Or maybe spend a lot of time here so we can all support you. Hugs, Patti
The entire first year is a blur of good and bad days for me. I remember at some point I found the good days lasting longer, but I also remember the bad times could last anywhere from a couple hours to days too. It\'s just a horrible thing to try to work through and there are no short cuts.
I\'ve past my three year mark last month and I can say I\'m doing a lot better. I\'ve began to describe it as being hit by a wave, but now I can swim. Only makes sense to say it here where everyone understands. Hope your bad Mondays end soon. Sharon
I am at the 8 month mark as well and have good and bad days...tonight I actually cleaned out Buddy\'s dresser drawers...I threw away the old socks and underwear but I packed up all his other cloths and I will put them in the attic because I can\'t bear to part with them yet...as far as Monday\'s go I hate them..I lost my Buddy at 1:10 am on Monday morning Nov. 2...I also use to love a full moon because Buddy would tell me how pretty I was when it came through the window on my face ...but he died on a full moon....I guess these things will be with us always...but I have a good job and plan on staying in my house so these things keep me busy...I go to a therapist and I am going to start attending a Hospice grief group in Aug that will run 6 weeks..I am hoping being around others that are going through what we are will help and maybe I will find a friend to talk to outside of the meetings...I miss my Buddy more than anything ..he was my best friend, soul mate the one person that knew me better than myself...but I know he would not be happy if I stopped living life..he loved life so much...all the simple things...and I miss him ..so much..hugs Ellen
oh gosh - that\'s so true - the entire first year is a blur of good and bad days. i am past the year mark and my life is markedly happier but there are still days that knock me to the floor - they are few and far between but I am guessing we will always have some days like that the rest of our lives. they will just be farther apart as time goes on...
