Merry Christmas........!

Seems only right to come here and write on a chilly Chrismas morn........I hope that you are warm, doing well......feeling safe.  Pray that you feel loved and content.........that you can find reasons to give thanks on this very special day.

I suppose I should be gettting dressed, but it feels so comfy in my jammies and slippers!  Wish a hair stylist and make up person would slide down my chimney about now and fix me up!  After I recovered from the shock!  LOL!

Christmas carols are playing .......makes me feel content and nostalgic.  I'll turn on the tree lights in a minute.......all the little details that make a holiday bright and special!

I'm actually going to wear a long black velvet skirt and a pretty red & black velvet top.....with sparkly black ballet flats and some sparkly black beads.......dangly antique earrings with garnets.  A big change from my usual leggings w/a casual top........I might even put some perfume behind my ears.  Silly maybe, but it's ok to dress up during this time of Covid........to make the season merry.

To celebrate.  My brother and his bride sent fresh pears.  Stella dropped off chocolate turtles, Ginny gave me homemade fudge and spiced walnuts.  I made cowboy cookies & sausage balls.......cinnamon swirl cake with snowy white glaze.  The roast is in the oven, the chicken goes in at high noon.  All of the veggies are prepped except the potatoes, the kids love mashed potatoes!  The butter is coming up to room temperature, the dinner rolls are ready to warm in the oven.

I'm going to saute garlic in olive oil, then add the fresh green beans and mushrooms.  I feel happy........happy!  The baby carrots simmered low and slow in brown sugar........the sweet corn is Sam's favorite.  The sweet tea is ready to pour........I'll set the table soon.  With pretty dishes and goblets.........my cottage may be small and humble but today it feels like a tiny mansion for this most special day.....Christmas.  Praise God for the energy and to feel well enough to do all this in care of my children.

It's not a given and there have been many years when I couldn't help or join in or even pretend to cook a meal, but this year is a gift.........a very special gift .....so I thank you God for this amazing day..........thank you for this day and for the gift of. your son Jesus..............!

Ruthie, your Christmas in Sparrow Cottage sounds lovely. I hope all went well and your dear children brought a lot of joy to share. I'm thanking God right along with you that you had the strength and stamina to do all the preparation ahead of time. I hope you were able to rest since then and recover for New Year's. Will your New Year's be as exciting as mine; fighting to stay awake until 10:30. Haha.
