Memorial now passed

So the memorial breakfast for my beautiful Suzanne was held this past Saturday.  Thanks to my family especially my two sisters and two nieces it turned out beautiful.  Custom decorations and custom made keepsakes and beautifully printed and framed photographs on each table.
I made a photo slideshow with music, which I was tweaking up until the night before of course, that came out better than I thought.
There were over 120 guests, family and friends, and I was happy, if a little overwhelmed, to see all of them.
There was a young girl, daughter of a friend, who played piano and sand some beautiful songs.  We gave people the opportunity to get up and make comments and most were wonderful.  I then spoke about my girl and thank God did not break down.  I was nervous and shaky and felt like I was rambling at times but everyone told me it was great so I guess I did okay.
We went back to my in-laws house for some (more) food and then a selected group, my immediate family and very close friends, including my brother-in-law and sister-in-law who have been my best friends for almost 40 years, went down to our favorite beach right before sunset to scatter her ashes in the ocean.
They participated by each taking their own little jar (which of course my sister thought of providing).  I filled the jars myself while Springsteen's Thunder Road was playing (one of our favorites).  I then handed each one to those who would participate.
I went in first, alone.  I stripped down to shorts and t-shirt (yes in New Jersey, in October) and walked into the ocean.  I went in up to about my chest (which I later heard was a little concerning to those on the beach) and opened my jar and let the ashes go in the water.
I then walked up to each one by one and walked them down to the water.  I told each one as we approached the water that "you don't have to go in as far as I did" because I came prepared with shorts under my jeans.  Most of them marched right in anyway blowing me away.
When the last person did their scattering we stood on the beach as it was now just at sunset and watched the most incredible sunset.
Here is the prayer card my sister had made up for the memorial.  The poem on it was written by a cousin of mine especially for Suzanne.  He said watching us and our love was his inspiration.

The day sounds like it was a wonderful tribute to your Suzanne and the love you shared. The poem is so touching. You must have felt such peace and love at the end of the day. Take care. Dawn
