meditations to start the day
sending prayers and peace for finding a bit of quiet to start the day.
I'm finding very much that I have sought out a space for quiet within
me and then very much, when trying to breach the divide between
me and others, I have also sought to avoid vulnerability.
I've thought about Buddhism, I have thought about Judaism,
and I have thought about Christianity. There is no avoiding
vulnerability and the unknown reaction between oneself and 'the other'.
I think I am finding part of my spirituality is developing to acknowledge this
vulnerability - and undeniably getting 'ok with it' - to still have my place of
peace within and yet also the reality of the potential and frought space
between folks. It's a dynamic that for me, again, that I have tried to avoid
but that has caused so much problems (illness perhaps.)
Sending prayers and peace,

i still feel reluctant to let my vulnerabilities show. i'll knock your teeth out if you dare to notice those tears in my eye. . . i may still be on the fake-it-till-you-make it plan, but i consider it progress that it's getting easier to believe that the harder i work to mask my vulnerabilities, the less resource i have for navigating the clear and present dangers in the here and now.
it's true!! ((((arfie)))
You're always so positive Mark. Great guy.
thanks Rich. That's really kind of you!
Vulnerability- i take small risks in showing it and it beats me up, gives me a kinda black eye that is visible to everyone else. And I hate doing it but I know it’s necessary to connect to the right things.
I am surrounded by hardened, surface-level things and people all day and so I put on my “spiritual armor” to go into the eye of the battle.
It’s all very exhausting….but it’s who I am and I cannot change it.
Maybe it’s my own mental illness - my vulnerability- but it’s my sincere approach to life.
Sending peace and hope and gratitude for reflection time. Back to my grind.
Thanks Nikki!!
Vulnerability is a double-edged sword. Being vulnerable opens us up to suffering deep emotional wounds, when the person we confide in uses what we say/share against us. However, it is impossible to have deep connections with other people without being vulnerable.
Like you, I struggle in this area. Because of that, I read as much as I can on the topic (in addition to working on the issue in therapy!). One of the best writers and speakers on vulnerability, in my opinion, is Dr. Brené Brown. If you get a moment, you might consider checking out a TED Talk she gave on the topic in 2010, which I believe is excellent.

Wishing you peace as well!
Thanks Ladybug!! I Iove Tedtalks!
