Made it through the family get togethers...

YEAH, last night was my last family get together, not sure how I made it, but i DID.  I cried, I smiled, I laughed, I cried some more, I prayed and slept and, well made it through.
I even had to put my pup down (that Greg picked out with me) the Monday before Christmas, I had to go to a funeral yesterday for a friend who lost her husband to cancer, their 3 daughters were great friends of my Greg.  But I made it...  Just like I do every day, not sure if I'm just getting good at wearing this mask of mine?

This is the first New Years my husband doesn't have to work, so we are going to a friends for the evening. It's going to be tough, but the wonderful woman hosting the get together has been my inspiration, you see she lost her 21 yr old daughter Nikki, Jan 3, 2013, also to an overdoes.  She helped me accept this tragic event, she's helped me lean into my grief, she even started a walking for wellness group to STOP HERION.  We also meet once a month with others who have lost someone to Heroin.  So I'm dreading yet looking forward to our get together, because if I want to cry, or laugh or smile of just be whatever, i will be with friends who understand.

So I can keep my status as OK, because to you ladies, I wear no mask, I am and can be me here.

I miss Greg every day, but I know he is in a better place, I know he doesn't hurt any more, I know he's not suffering and most of all I know he would want me to keep on LIVING.

Love you all!

Greg's Mum, Julie

Glad you made it through, mask and all! You will get good at wearing it in time. You have made it through most of the \"firsts\". I know that February will be hard for you. My remaining son is in rehab now for heroin. As you know already, my elder died of it. I am always here for you.
Peace.

It is amazing to go through all that we do and still survive. I am so sorry about your pup. I am so glad you have a group of ladies who can help you and form a group with a common cause to stop heroin! Hang in there!

So glad you made it through. It is rough but having your loved ones around does help. And it doesn\'t even have to be family. Just being around positive people is good. It does get tiresome to wear the mask but I know sometimes it\'s best. People that have never lost a child cannot understand the depth of the pain. I know your Greg is happy that you are just living. I know deep in my heart our children don\'t want us to suffer and mourn their loss. But we will for the rest of our lives. Time doesn\'t heal anything, it just teaches us new ways to deal with the pain.
Hugs to you!

One day at a time and just getting through it is the best we can do. Love, Kathy

Huge pats on the back for making it through, Julie. These are huge steps among the baby ones that we speak of so please give yourself that needed encouragement and praise. You deserve it!

Enjoy your gathering with your friends and what a gift that is to be with others who understands this path you are walking. Leaning into our pain is a beautiful way of putting it and very hard to do, yet something I try to remain aware of. Thank you for that reminder...

Loving care to you and again, so very sorry that you had to say good-bye to your fur baby and YOU are doing your best and Julie that is always enough... more than enough...

Heartfelt (((hugs))) for Gregor and his forever mum.
