love the south.......

it can be hard not to love the south.  yesterday i called to check on my vacuum cleaner.  it's in the shop, a man named louis answers the phone.  he takes my info and promises to call me back in a little bit.

several hours later i call louis back.....he seems to vaguely remember me.  he asks me a question puts me on hold, asks another question, puts me on hold.......and finally he tells me he'll have Wayne fix it today if possible.  no, he says, wayne's not comin' in to day.  he'll have joe fix it......wait, joe's not comin' in today.  he says well somebody's comin' in, they'll fix it. 

i ask him about cost, he guesses it'll be 'bout $69.95.  .......hours later, it's now after 6 pm Louis calls back.  well we gotter all fixed up, she's rarin' to go!  we talk awhile......first bout one thing and then the other.  very southern......i tell him about my adventure getting a replacement bush.  how i ended up at Buck Jones Nursery out in Grayson.  ohhhh, louis says, i know that family well.  he used to fix Buck Jones vacuum cleaner for many years.  how poor ol buck succumbed to the cancer......had a fine family, strong sons.  i tell him about the young man who helped me, made such an impression i wished how i'd had another daughter so he could become my son in law.  he thought that meant it had to be one of Buck Jone's boys, strapping handsome boys every last one of 'em.

he offered to stay late so i could drive down and pick up my vacuum, promised to put it in my trunk for me.....such a gentleman!  sooooo, i say i'm pretty tired at this point, i need to stay put and rest so i can help at church tomorrow.  oh,you're a church going woman, well i like that, i'll tell you what....let's make that charge $59.95.  oh, my goodness, that's so nice of you. 

thank you very much......i tell him a little about helping to put Kayla's Kit's together.......i was NOT FISHING for anything, just excited to share.......and the next thing i know he's says, that $59.95 doesn't sound right to me at all, not at tall.  yup sounds like he's saying at tall....a southern drawn out thing.  he says that charge is gonna have to be $49.95.  yup that's the right price. 

oh my lanta........what a sweet generous funny gentleman.  told my brother Dan about it and he said had you stayed on the phone long enough he mighta started to have to pay you to fix your own vacuum cleaner.  made me laugh at that!

already showered, planning what to wear today.......something light and comfy to work in at church, but first i gotta go pick up my hoover!  hope you have a good day.

yes, i'm stiff, yes it's gonna hurt like the dickens tomorrow and friday but i'm gonna go and do today til i'm nudged back into my car.  this day is in the Lord's mighty hands.  gonna help prep meals for Bread of Life.
