Loss and New Hope

I lost my cat a couple weeks ago to cancer. She had undergone chemo but it was unsucessful. I had to have the vet come to my house to help her pass peacefully. It was one of the hardest things I have done. I have lost both my parents, but neither one of them was under my control. This was directly under my control, and I still have grief over it. One of my dear friends sent me a memorial necklace in her memory that has her fur in it. I clipped some before the vet got here so I would have it for the necklace. It's a rainbow dreamcatcher, since she is now only in my dreams and lit up my sky. I miss her so much, the grief is hard. I had her for 13 years, and she was my first and only cat. I had other pets before her, but cats are something different.

I have a new cat now, and she is fiesty. She has already grown on me. She climbs on everything and gets into lots of trouble. You would think for a 3 year old she'd be calmer, but she is not. When I got her at the shelter, she was reserved and calm, but not now! She knocked my fan out of the window (a large box fan), knocks things off shelves and just is a little troublemaker. I love her all the more for it! She symbolizes the new hope and new life from the old. She is like a phoenix, a rebirth but different. I couldn't have gotten a cat that was more different than my old one, and I couldn't be happier! She also is a love bug and a cuddler. She sleeps next to me cuddled up in the bed, and loves my black hoodie (yes, I have light-skinned Latino privilege where I can wear a hoodie). She's just the cutest thing!

I'm very sorry about the loss of your cat. Glad to hear that you have a new kitty to lift your spirits a bit. Sounds like she is very happy in her new home! : ) Have you named her, or did she already have one?
