Lonely night

Tonight, I plan on going out into town and grab myself some food and beer. I plan on spending a few hours out. Earlier in the day, I couldn't stop but feel how lonely it is living out here. I live in Wyoming and the only decent size town is an hour's drive. I have signed up activities through meetup.com and waiting until a week to go out and try to socialize. But as I plan on going out tonight on my own, I always think what is the point. Going out will not take away the loneliness. I am exactly going through what I have been going through before I met my wife. Trying not to isolate myself at home, trying to go out with the hope that something special will happen and change me forever. I do have friends, but most of them have a family of their own, some do not have the same work schedule as I do, and some don't really go out and drink for a personal reason. The only thing I can do, aside from waiting until the divorce is final, is to wait a year until my contract is up so I can leave the department and move back east to be close to my family. I have to deal with this for a year. It is like a lonesome prison that is within myself that I am living.

I feel your pain. I too have been trying to get out more to help with the loneliness since the ex-fiancé left. It's been almost 5 months since he left and there are days it seems it's getting easier and then others where it feels ridiculously lonely.

Here's to hoping this next year flies by for the both of us. Feel free to message me if you need to vent :)
