Little Reminders
Everything happens for a reason... right? Some things are small, some are big. Some are tests and some are just little reminders... I happened to be @ my parents this weekend when a family friend came over. She was borrowing $300 from my Mom. Apparently, she went to the casino with $40 and blew threw that pretty quickly. But that small amount of time there gave her the "itch" and it needed scratching a bit more. I know it had to be embarrassing for her to borrow that money in front of all of us -- especially my Dad because she knows how adamantly he is against gambling. But my Mom was more than happy to loan the money --- because she had borrowed from this friend before, so in her mind, she was just returning the favor. But for me -- this was just what I needed to remind me that I never want to go back into that arena again. I knew all the feelings and emotions she was probably feeling. I am just so thankful that I am not putting myself into that position. I can see the light and it is shining brightly. I think I will follow it, I dont do good in dark.

What an excellent job journaling. So vivid, been there seen that, felt that. Have to chase the loss and can\'t help the feeling inside. So glad you are outside looking in Shelia. Your hard work is paying off and I bet your Dad sees it too. hugs barb
Whew!! That brought back some memories,,, not good ones. Once I was in the casino and actually winning, or at least at that moment. A gal I knew, barely.. and only from the casino asked me if she could borrow several hundred dollars from me and said she would write me a check. I turned her down... -made up some excuse. Anyhow, your journal made me recall those memories. I\'m with you, I dont do well in the dark either.
yes it amazing the things you did while gambling to keep gambling--ugh!! it doesn\'t look good when you see it from the other side either, that is a good reminder.
That dark is a cold, scary, lonely place. It sucks the soul right out of a person! Glad you are living in the light and shining your example for the rest of us. Hugs!
Yes, you follow the light, girl!! I am really proud of you. Pretty soon one month, then two, then three - - think of how we\'ll be by the end of 2010! Much richer than last. :] in many, many ways. Have a great day!
