little bits of validation
I hope you guys can give yourselves little bits of validation during
the day.
Like, 'make your bed' like give yourself 'a cup of tea' or some rest
or a 'bouquet of flowers'. Clean your room. Something that says to yourselves 'you're worth it!'
Sometimes I have found myself so wanting validation from others -
and yet I really must give myself that from me 'number one.' :)
If you can stand outside yourself to understand things objectively
and what is right - perhaps try and use that ability to step outside
yourself to give yourself what would be a validation of yourself.
I'm finding too that I have a window onto my own process and why certain
things are 'sending me south' mentally and emotionally. I'm cleaning my room
now - not in a way that is self punishing with huge 'moral demand' but rather
gently in a way that's good for me. I can see too, making myself vulnerable even -
like writing here can send my mood south a little bit - but I know why it's happening
now and getting the insight to set myself at ease.

So true. But, some external validation never hurts. : ) You rock, Mark! We're all very glad that you're here and sharing with us. I hope you find a new therapist where you live that's a good fit. Hugs.
Thanks Judy!
Mark, reading your journal reminded me of something I went through after my divorce. I was alone for the first time in my life, and I didn’t know where to begin. So I started with small acts of care, just like you’re doing now. Making the bed. Cleaning the room. Little validations that I was still here and still worth showing up for.
I think that’s why your post struck such a chord with me. You’re not just keeping your room in order, you’re keeping your heart steady. That’s the essence of The Gentle Path, and I’m glad you’re walking it with me.
One breath at a time, brother. We’re not alone....Hugs
Thanks Bob!!
I’m doing some things in this new year that are definitely out of my comfort zone. While it’s not looking myself in the Stuart Smalley mirror, it is allowing myself to take new and different steps.
I have been in mind numbing mode the past few days, despite some activities. But the mind numbing definitely goes south after too much time has passed.
It’s tough times for sure, maybe give yourself extra rest or food. Good self care. ((Hug))
