Like daffodils, green shoots of hope

I am filled with joy and gratitude. Really, the kind that only comes along a few times in a lifetime. HUGE!!!! Last night my son Byron and his beloved Caitlin told me that they are going to be married.
( :  <3   : )
I could not possibly be happier for them. My cup runneth over. I have seen them in the most broken, shattered, wretched places humans can go, watching Andy die last May, and then seeing her terrible accident in July when she crashed and broke her jaw in 4 places, holy cow. They have gone through so much together.
Just to illustrate what a huge healing moment this is, I'll share that last summer, admittedly in the pits of howling grief, Byron confided in me that he didn't think he would ever want to get married or have children. He just didn't feel safe looking into the future, promising anything. I told him then that this was really understandable, and that he needed to ask Caitlin to be patient with him as he healed from the inside. She was.
But now he says he wants to celebrate. He wants to promise. He wants to make sacred their vision of life together. He wants to be the best person he can be and help her be her best too. We hugged and cried and snuffled and smooched for such a long time last night.
I love them both soooooo much and feel so much happy happy happy for them. We're all walking around with the biggest smiles on. Can't wipe it off, don't wanna try!!!
No need to think about the details... it's theirs, not mine, anyway. They'll do things their way. All I care about is that the heart heals, and we have so much love in our lives, and that Byron is a man in love. And that Caitlin will also be even more officially part of our family. We talked about how our tribes would SO joyfully merge!!! OK now to make dinner for my beloved, just home, and probably frazzled beyond belief. It is such a blessing to share our home with each other.
All love, all hope, all healing, memories, forever,
Sarah

Big smiles and so much delight in hearing this happy news. It is a living testimony to the healing of ourselves that out of the ashes rises the Phoenix. Bryon needed time and Caitlin was able to companion him and allow him that without pushing or needing the outcome to be a certain way and look at what that time allowed?! This is a rebirth and I too love hearing about the tribes merging and will remember that...Are you able to post a picture of them? I looked through your pictures and see Bryron as a little boy with Andy yet would love to be able to envision this happy couple. I cannot wait to hear what they plan and I sense something very simple yet elegant involving family and the beauty of nature... We all need joy in our lives and things to look forward to and this is as De stated so well pure JOY and DELIGHT! Much love, Sarah. XO Joanie
