Like, basically....whatever....

Have you noticed how fractured or shattered english is becoming?
I think one of my cringes at present is the word 'like' which is used so much and so unnecessarily. especially by young people but it is creeping in everywhere.
This is closely followed by the use of 'basically' in the start to nearly every sentence. What does it mean?????
Lastly, and I actually dont mind this as it basically  has so many like RANDOM uses....
whatever....
yesterday I heard it shortened to 'whatev'
my joy was complete.......
