Life is what happens when you're making other plans...
So two days ago Byron and Caitlin announce their plans to marry. We were in the stars, so happy.
Today I found out that Heidi's (she is my son Andy's widow) biopsied moles are Melanoma, Clark Level III. We're going to find out what needs to happen next to protect her from the disease progressing. Surgery, chemo... clinical trials?
She is terrified. I am terrified. She has no insurance. What's a young woman to do, in Asheville? Any ideas? I wish she was here. Maine has such excellent care for folks with no resources, as we learned with Andy's cancer journey.
I haven't told H about B&C or B&C about H. It's just so cruel. I'm sure they will share with each other... or I will soon... but I don't want to rain on the love parade or make Heidi feel guilty for bringing it all crashing down OR rub it in that her beloved is gone but others are making joyful plans. Oy. It's all so mean.
Back to real life. :*(

Oh Sarah, I am so sorry to hear this. I wonder if you call or go online to Cancer Centers of America if you can find the most skilled care near Asheville. I know Cancer Centers of America here in Mass. is Dana Farber. I will pray for Heidi. Tight hugs, Linda
I\'m so very sorry. It\'s terrifying to hear those words. I was diagnosed with Melanoma the summer after my son died. Fortunately mine was not to that stage but I continue to go in every six months. If she is open to the option, I think Heidi should be with you and get the care she needs from your state. Sending you and Heidi abundant prayers. Also happy news needs to be congratulated too so best wishes for the new couple. Love to you. Robin
Sorry to hear this news. If she will not go to Maine then look into Duke they have the best because it is a teaching university. They may have a program for the un insured. I really do not know. Also if she stays in NC have her get into a Medicaid program this will pay medical and medicine for her. Hoping for the Best
Hugs Penny
Love and prayers for Heidi. Such scary news. Wish I had something to offer in the way of advise for health care, but I have none. Totally understand your thoughts on sharing everyone\'s info with the other.....tough to say the least. I too am hoping for the best, love, Teri.
Sarah, I\'m so sorry. I have the same questions as does everyone else...can Heidi come to your state?....Sending prayers your way for you and your family...Hugs, Pat
Sarah, I am sorry for the news of cancer with Heidi. Skin cancer is highly curative so I hope that Heidi gets the care she needs. Hugs, belinda
