Lazy
I have come to the conclusion that I am just a lazy sloth!!! It doesn't serve me one little bit, because laying around the house, bored, is not healthy for me physically or mentally.
A couple of days ago I was pondering this, and I had the thought"If only it didn't take me so long to get ready to go out!!". But the fact is it doesn't, I used to get ready for work every single day, very, very early...and it took the same amount of time. I have just become used to being at home and not bothering, so it seems like a chore.
So I sleep as late as I can, watch t.v., Facebook, nap, eat, shop on-line, read, snuggle with my furbabies (the one thing that is really good for me)...wait for nighttime to go to bed and do the same the next day.
I am planning on starting to volunteer at a local nursing home a few days a week soon. My heart is with dogs, but the local shelter is a killshelter and my heart just can not take it. Hopefully, getting out, helping others who really need it will change my direction.
Still beyond grateful to have my boy home, safe and sound, and healthy. I look at him sleeping and see Cassi. They both have round baby faces that I want to kiss all over. He is still not drinking and having no problems at all.
ALWAYS something to be grateful for!!!

Good luck on the volunteering ..,it's great to keep busy
Do you have any dog rescue groups around
They always need help
I too get lost in this kind of empty circle... that's one thing the flood has forced... I am not able to do so much but I actually find blessings in having to do all that I can to help us as we move toward reestablishing our comfort zones... LOL I too am planning on volunteering once the holidays are done... I want to get involved in some of the shelters where they cook and feed people... I love to cook and bring some comfort and joy into people's lives... and I know I could get in at least 2-3 short stints each week... maybe help cook, clean up, serve lunch or supper just a few times a week. I'm looking forward to it. So glad your husband is doing better. I hate what happened but perhaps that was the storm sent to reveal the sunlight you two needed. I truly believe Cassi is smiling just as bright as any sun. Hugs Elissa
Well, you may feel like a sloth, yet YOU certainly do not look like one! lol! I understand the need for some kind of routine when one is no longer out there in the workforce and I'm sure you will find a good fit. Seniors crave for someone to come and sit, hear their narratives and sit some more. Human touch too is such a gift and I have no doubt that something will speak to your heart.
I have found that I have to start "small" and build up as jumping in with too many days/hours of anything might take some getting used to. That is just me, yet it might feel that way for you as well?
Happy to hear that Steve continues to do well and yes, always much to be grateful for.
Hand in hand, Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
I work so on the weekends I would go out w/ my girlfriend for shopping therapy ( not buying much more window shopping) Then come home and vegetate. I am now on 2 antidepressants it seems to be working I am not as bad of a couch potato that I used to be. It takes time to figure things out, but progress is fixing ourselves first. Then we can help others and feel better so we are not as bad in a depressing state as before. I hope what you are doing helps YOU.
Hugs Penny
So glad to hear that all is going well with Steve...and it is comforting to know that I am not the only
lazy sloth in this neck of the woods...lol
Gentle care, Gina

You describe my life!! Except I snuggle with a cat that bites me when she has had enough...
I worked in Long Term Care facilities for the majority of my work life. Volunteers bring quality to the lives of the residents.
I did some volunteering at a nursing home here, but found it hard because funding cuts have resulted in staff cuts and substandard care (in my opinion). I often meet staff members who worked for me and I hear their stories. So I do community volunteer work. I need to be busy as I am a couch potato extraordinaire. I was in my jammies all day yesterday!
I am so glad you have your hubby home. How wonderful that he hasn't had a drink. One day at a time for him, and for all of us.
Tight hugs always, Marlene
Hi Gina, maybe being home & "lazy" served you for a season but now it no longer does. If it no longer serves you, then good for you letting it go. I retired in September & began volunteering almost immediately after retiring. I took the rest of September off since September 4th is Ed's angel date and his earth birthday is September 22nd. I began to volunteer in October because I know I need the structure and have enough energy to help out. I was scared to be at home too much & get too comfortable or be home & thinking too much. Volunteering is great because I can contribute without exhausting myself working 40 to 50 hours a week. I can turn down extra days and I have enjoyed not having to run out in the early morning especially since we have had snow 2 mornings already. I don't miss the nightmare commutes in the snow & ice. I think helping out in the nursing home will help the residents and you to feel good. Volunteering so far for me has been win/win.
So glad Steve is doing so well! That's wonderful news. Sending love to you, Steve and of course beautiful Cassi, Linda
