Last Day with Dr. Raoli

Today was my last visit to my old psych from years ago, Dr. Raoli. I really like her, but she's not going to take my new insurance. I have to go back to Dr. Miller at the clinic and find a therapist there. I also have to stop seeing my therapist as well. I'm not too happy about that on one hand, and okay with it on the other. We spent too much time talking like friends rather than talking like a therapist. I would tell her I wanted to do CBT and she would just blow me off, saying I should be able to control my thoughts on my own without it. I know I can for some things, but for others I can't.
I'm so glad I don't need to rely on the JMH transportation anymore. They are horrible! I called last week to set up a pickup time for my appointment and the time for my ride home, at 3:15. I got out early, but didn't call them because I wanted to have a coffee at the cafe there. It was supposed to be between 3:15 and 3:45, so by 4 when nobody had shown up I called and asked what was going on. They told me that I was supposed to have called them when I was done, since they didn't see that I had a pickup already scheduled. They said the guy would be there in 45 minutes. This was at 4, after waiting an hour. The guy didn't show up until almost 5:30, a full hour and a half after i called initially. So I was waiting for 2.5 hours for my ride. such a hassle! I hope my new transportation company isn't that bad. I would only need rides once in a while to see my primary doctor, since my psych and therapist would be at the clinic across the street.
I'm a bit worried about starting with a new therapist. I don't want to have to go through all my drama again. Some things I'm okay with, and others I have problems discussing. It's going to be hard fighting my PTSD from the rape/assault and my dad's suicide. Just thinking about them gets me depressed. And I don't need anything else to slip me into a depression at this time of year. October 4th is the anniversary of my dad's suicide, so I tend to get depressed around that time. Oh well, it's something that my new therapist and I can talk about.

what a horrible time with that transporation, hopefully the new one will be much better. I understand what you mean about not wanting to go over all the same stuff again and bringing it all to the surface, but maybe it will actually be helpful facing it again, though hard. very sad about your father and I find the days leading up to a date are worse then the actual date. many hugs

I know how you feel about anniversaries of deaths. It is hard, and very traumatic. It is easy to slip into depression around those times and not even realize it. I do it around the time of my piggies being poisoned, my father\'s death and my mothers death. Other things you mention I can relate to, my half brother done a number on me on the eve of my mother\'s death. It brought back flashbacks as to why I was afraid of men. I have kind of given up with my counseling, as I find it is not working. I can talk, but my feelings don\'t change that much.

I wish you happiness because I know you give happiness to others on here. Hugs

Hopefully things will go smoothly with the new therapist! I also understand the anniversary of losing a close family member.
The waiting for a ride would drive me over the edge...I am not a good waiting person. I want it to happen NOW! I would be chewing nails!

How awful you had to wait so long for transportation. I hope your new company works out better. Could you take your file from the therapist you have been going to to let the new therapist know what\'s been going on ?
