Last Conversation

The last day of my mother's life, we had a conversation about health.  She told me not to end up like her, to follow my father's example.  Mom was overweight, ate what she wanted, never exercised, and died of heart disease at 69.  At the time, I was slightly overweight.
Flash forward ten years.  I've gotten fatter, I exercise all the time, I eat well and I eat junk, thus the weight gain.  My husband had a last conversation with me and I ended up sitting by his bedside writing a promise to him.  At the time neither he nor I knew he would lose his life.  It was just an idea I had that the greatest gift you can give anyone is the gift of health.  When you have your health it allows your family to enjoy your company.  It allows them to pursue the life they want.  It truly is a gift.  So in the final moments of my husband's life our final conversation was about health and how we would do everything we could to maintain our health.  I wrote the pledge and meant it.
Imagine--two conversations with people about to meet God.  Each about the identical thing.  So now, I'm on the fifth day of Nutrasystem.  This time I will stick with it because I can picture Mom and my husband each talking to God about our last conversation.

My mom rode her bicycle as she never drove, ate what she wanted, did what she wanted and drank what she wanted. My mom died at the age of 63. A wise person said would you rather she go on a diet and be miserable or eat what she wants and be happy. I wanted my mom to be happy. She died doing what she wanted to do. My mom was a very stubborn woman. It runs in the family. We faught like cats and dogs but we loved one another very much. My two brothers and myself faught with our mom but we loved one another. She died too soon just like my Smokey at 60 years of age. He did the same thing drank what he wanted, ate what he wanted and did what he wanted. He died doing what he wanted at the age of 60 years of age. Now my older brother is worried about my health and telling me to eat healthy as is my daughter. They are all worried about me. Health is the best gift to give yourself and the ones you love. I agree with you.

Congrats ! I think no matter how you lose the wieght its a good thing. I have had weight problems since I was born. Up down up down, thats been my story all my adult years. I have found a died from Isabel De Los Rios and love it. I have not had candy for over 7 weeks, and don\'t miss it. I have not had a soda in about 4 weeks. I have lost 12 pounds in that 8 weeks. I am feeling better and don\'t mind not eating the junk stuff. I haven\'t opened a can in forever. All fresh, so I cook every meal. You keep it up and if you need any support, yell at me. I think support is a big part of losing the weight and not giving up. You go girl !!!!! Hugs Jane

I\'m heavier than I\'ve ever been -about 160 - too much stress in the last several years. I\'m determined to lose weight. I was never this weight before. Is this is diet drink you\'re talking about? I have one at lunch but then starving when I get home - and there goes the will power.

I\'m wishing you strength and success on this mission. It\'s a matter of life and death, far from just being about vanity. Good for you! I\'ve really let myself go since Craig got sick and especially since he died, but I want to turn that around SOON.

Hugs, Gail
