Land Ho.

Ahoy Maties!
I'm a seasick little pirate, all I need is a peg leg and an eye patch.  The temps haven't radically dropped, but I guess to the body it's a big change.......from the high 90's to the mid 80's.  So nauseous....would like to evict myself from this 5' 7" frame.
The shower steam cleared things so I can breathe, but the seasick where are my landlegs feeling hasn't subsided.... bummer dude..........
had a craving for tuna fish casserole yesterday.  haven't had that since i was a kid.  can't decide if my memories taste buds are losing power, but it wasn't as good as i remembered.  do our taste buds fade as we age?
or were we just so hungry as kids that after a hard day of running & playing food was just extra goooooood!  not sure.  mom used to crumble tater chips on top and this version had none of that crunchy potato chip action.  was that the deal breaker? the pear was real yummy. think i'll freeze the rest for a cold day.....
i have 2 or 3 more days of meds and then it's pharmacy time.  (note to self: call the pharmacy and make sure all meds are ready for p/u.)  i haven't been very steady on my feet lately. the arthritis is worse.  rats.
so let me see, daughter sara took some recent daytrips.  she drove up to the lake about an hour and a half north of where i live.........i used to take the kids there regularly to swim.  it's a small-ish country town with a lovely lake on the outskirts.  there is a huge expanse of grassy lawn and then there is a pebbled stairway with strong handrails that help you enter the water.
they have an old fashioned slippery slide and a diving platform further out for the bigger kids.  it feels like the 1950's.........people bring food to grill, share their picnics, dogs and kids run and play...........it has a feeling of safe, small town fun........so nice.  they don't allow any motor boats on this lake......it's a very peaceful calm yet fun atmosphere.
from the shore you can watch canoes and kayaks glide through the water.  .......so sara decided to have a day adventure and step back into that memory.  and then when she was almost there, she couldn't find the lake. sigh........she didn't feel like asking anyone so she turned back for home.  (as close as she was she didn't want to complete her original goal........my sweet grown up kiddo. adult or not, she is still perplexing.
then the next day she decided she wanted to put her feet in the atlantic ocean so she drove to savannah.  these were both all by herself trips..........she got there & found lodging........enjoyed walking all over river street......it's a lovely cobblestoned street with many artistic shops, galleries, eateries and you can see the water as you enjoy the ambiance.  she spent a little time near the squares but didn't stop........she traipsed through one of the lovely old cemetaries.  savannah cemetaries are so beautiful.  spanish moss laces through the might oaks, beautiful well tended lush grassy areas......old fashioned statues.....ornate iron scrollwork fences......you enter the grounds through massive gates.......so peaceful and spiritual too. she drove to Tybee Island to see the lighthouse, put her toes in the water........spent the night and drove back the next day.  i just listened and didn't ask a lot of questions.
just SO glad we're talking.....she has officially got a band now.  A drummer, two electric guitars, a bass player and Sara as vocalist.  It is not the same guys she sang with on the youtube video recently.  This is all focused on her original music.........which i can't wait to hear more of.  I asked for more recent recordings of her previous rough cuts.  I hope she sends them soon!  sure do love to listen to the development of her project.  sara and the band are creating a video to post on Kickstarter.  this is a website that helps artists raise money to produce their projects.  so that's the plan in a nutshell as i know it.
Xanadu, her kittums, got very sick recently.  Had to get anti nausea shots and take an antibiotic too......poor pretty kitty! Du is doing a lot better now, but still not completely well.  Hate when our fur babies get sick.
Fog is rolling back in.  I am a pasty faced girl.  Big blue eyes lost in this white sick face.  Awww kid, it's alright........God loves you as is.......he sees beauty in you.  Don't despair.......so happy to have eye drops daily to stop the eye pain.  Goooood stuff.
ok enough of my wah wah shtuff, gonna make a nice what?  missed breakfast and lunch......is the meal between lunch and dinner called dunner or linner .....dunch or linch?  dunno........love you and your cute face!!!!!!!!  accept this hug and we'll call it our daily exercise.  the end, your friend, sparrow!

I just opened my iPad & there you were with a new journal. Love, love your journals. Nice that you & Sara are doing AOK with each other. Her Savannah day trip sounds like something I would enjoy doing. Can\'t wait to see Sara on Kickstarter. She\'s got a beautiful voice. Glad she\'s got her band together.
Sorry to hear you are feeling yucky. We went to the mall today & I was off balance & fell over. Not hurt, but embarrassed. Back home...in my pj\'s & relaxing. Hubby is cooking & watching football. TB/NYJ game.
Hope you get your sea legs back so you can get out this week & pick up your meds. Praying for you blue eyes. Love ya from your blue eyed friend across the fence. Xo

Hey Little Sparrow, seeing as I really really hate nausea I have bumped you up for extra prayer until roses dot your cheeks again and they fold into smiles. (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((ruthie))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I had the very same experience when I made tuna noodle casserole. I was expecting a \"wow\" in my mouth and instead got a bland taste. I do think out tastebuds change and you know what they say about how foods rarely taste as good as the memory. That doesn\'t stop us from trying though, does it? : ) Glad you and your daughter are talking. The trip sounds like good therapy for her. I have a relative at SCAD in Savannah. I long to go visit! It is relaxing just being there somehow, the city with the old soul. Hope you are feeling better soon. xoxo

WOW! How many of us had tuna fish and noodle cassarole growing up! It was almost every Friday night that my mom made that. I LOVED IT!! She used those thick, wide noodles, and yes, potato chips on top! It was so good. I haven\'t tried to make it since she passed. Hubby won\'t eat cassaroles. He\'s a meat and potatoes kinda guy (moron! GRRRRRR, more work for moi!).....BUT, I think he would have loved the tuna fish and noodle cassarole....maybe as a side dish!!

So happy with all the Sara news here. The group thing! That\'s fabulous! She\'s a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice! I do hope you will share with us, when she shares with you!! I\'m happy that she is calling and talking to you. I know that means a lot!

I\'m also amazed at hearing about her \"alone\" trips! I used to do that! I loved doing things by myself. Especially traveling. Now, I\'m kinda like you are, just sauntering around, pasty faced and irritable sometimes, but hopeful for tomorrow, and thankful for every little thing God sends my way!

I\'m thankful for YOU, Ruthie! xoxo

Okay I love tuna casserole and haven\'t had it for years. Care to share the recipe? Did you make it? Wish Sara would have taken you along for the drive but you may not be good for long trips in a car, too, so maybe not... Good for her to just go! I used to do that, why not? You don\'t need other people -find your own joy, I say! Happy that you\'re connecting with her..

HUGS, bird lady, love your journals xxoo

Hey Ruthie, so sorry that you aren\'t feeling so well lately. I do believe that it is this strange weather! We are back into the 100 bracket, ick. It isn\'t even worth the energy to open up at night because the time of lows (60\'s) is very short. I am actually looking forward to winter, ha, go figure.
I am happy for you and Sara, baby steps but forward motion none the less. It would be great to hear anything she sings again, she has a great voice.
Take it easy on that pharmacy trip--can they deliver? California has things like that in place and even doctors home visits, don\'t know the how or why of it all though.
I very much enjoyed your country life journal BTW. :) Big hugs to you!

We call it linner. Dunch just doesn\'t sound as attractive.

I\'m sorry you\'re having a tough time. I am too. Hopefully we\'ll both start feeling better soon!
