Knee Problems again
My knee is still hurting today. I took it easy and just walked for 15 minutes to drop off the rent. The office is a quarter of a mile away, so I just walked kinda slow. I did some other leg exercises as well since I can't do squats and lunges, so I got some exercise in today. I figured out why my foot was hurting- it's the way I sit in bed. My ankle bone rests on the arch of my other foot, and it's been pushing on the bones and making them hurt.
Today was pretty boring. I just stayed at home, in bed most of the day. I had an ice pack on my knee for a while, and then also took a warm bath for relaxation since Geo was in a bad mood and I wanted to clear my mind. I'm trying to take control of my emotions, since when Geo is in a bad mood, I normally get into a bad mood too so the bath was my way of saying that I wasn't going to let Geo dictate my moods. I came out of the bath and he was feeling better, so that was good. I don't know what would have happened if he wasn't in a good mood, but at least I can say I tried to get myself into a better place.
I joined a C25K program type thing today- It's a 5 week training to get to a 5k. I'm taking the easiest one, since I'm out of shape and want to be able to get into shape. I did today's exercise, which was walk for 15 minutes. Next step is to walk a mile, and then the last one of the week is to walk a mile and a half. The mile I can see, the mile and a half is a bit daunting. I know I can do it... I've been resisting joining a C25K thing because I used to be able to run 5k easily (I used to do 5k races on hills in about 30 minutes) and I wish I was in that shape again. The thing is, I'm not, and I have to face that reality. I can't walk and run 30 miles a week, I can't even run a mile now. I'm probably going to do the 5k on the elliptical machine, since it tracks my distance and is easier on the knees. I don't know for sure though. I haven't decided yet.
I've been a bit depressed today, and I don't know why. I think that's one of the reasons I stayed in bed a lot today. I did get up and have my coffee, and did some cleaning, but mostly stayed close to the bed. Tomorrow I need to go to the gym and do my strength training just to get out and get moving. I can't let this depression get to me. As Geo said, I need to avoid extremes. A bit depressed is okay, but I don't stop there. I go full-on depressed and can't get out of bed for a week if I don't stop it. I think I'm going to talk to my doctor about raising my Prozac. I've been on the same dose for years now and I'm still having problems with depression every now and then. I'm only on 20mg, which is one of the lower doses, so it shouldn't be too bad. My up swings have calmed down on the Depakote, and the hallucinations have calmed down on the Risperdal. Overall, I think my moods not swinging too bad right now.
Sleep/Food- Last night I got about 11 hours. I woke up feeling good, not too tired. I ate chicken soup for breakfast, bread and butter for lunch and Chinese mixed meat and veggies with white rice for dinner. I'm actually low on my calories for today but don't feel like forcing myself to eat anything else. I guess it will just have to stay that way. I think that's depression, too, making me not want to eat. Hopefully I will sleep well tonight and wake up feeling better in the morning.

have you told your doctor about how bad your depression is? if you have he or she should have been adjusting your meds a long time ago. are you seeing a psych and therapist? i have had to mix my meds, change doses etc.. and i have been on the right doses for awhile now. what a relief! so please go and talk about upping your dose. depression sucks and without the right med it isnt you who has no control over the depression, your bodys chemistry isnt working right. it is not your fault. great idea to get to the gym, strength training helps esp. around the knee.
I have been going through mood swings, up and down, so it\'s not the best idea to increase something that\'s going to make me go up higher (Prozac) to the mix. I see my doctor later this month, so I\'m going to ask him about the Prozac now. I\'ve been on a ton of meds, so this isn\'t my first medicine roulette.
