kissed by a butterfly

We went hiking in the Kananaskis today; the place where Lisa spent many weekends backpacking when she was in Jr. High School.  She loved the hiking club.  As I walked, I felt calm (and often short of breath - I knew I was out of shape but this was serious!).  I kept my eyes open for a 'stump' that Lisa had declared was hers.  The Kananaskis is a huge area so finding "the" stump is almost impossible.  She actually showed us the photo of her stump - the one she had adopted - it was where a tree had been chopped down, quite a large tree.  We walked about 10 - 11 miles up and down.  I thought a lot about Lisa and in away her spirit was with me.  I told her that I needed something tangible to know she was there.
As we were walking back, there was a tree stump.  Not as big as the one in the photo,  but it was a stump.  I said "Lisa, you have to do better than that".  About 10 minutes before the end of the hike I literally walked in to a butterfly!  I mean it kissed me on the nose!   The hike leader was shocked!  I was not.  All I could do was laugh - Lisa gave me a kiss.
I would like to say I feel better but I have been weepy since I got home.  I think it is because I am tired.  We REALLY need to get fit again.  And walking in to a butterfly is the type of story I would call and tell Lisa about! So I am a bit sad but overall it was a good day.
Thank you Lisa for coming to the Kananaskis with us.  Thanks for keeping the rain away!  And you know how much it meant to me to have you visit as a butterfly.  I miss you always and love you forever.   Mummy

I think walking in the wilds, or where-ever, is one of the best forms of meditation and peace - just motion and thoughts. 10 or 11 miles, now that\'s a hellava walk!! I\'m so glad you touched base with Lisa...like I said, hellava walk!! Take care ~ Joanna x

How lovely for you. My mother always loved butterfles. Walking is such a good way to get in touch with deeper emotions. I can\'t do it, my DDD is so painful. I do try though. We miss them always, dreaming and thinking of them keeps them with us, a necessity. We grew them, raised them, made them of our skin and bones and teeth. My Jacob is the child who looked most like my family. I think it would hurt me worse, not to think about him. Love continues. Abby

Lisa\'s spirit was walking with you. Sending that butterfly so cool. Maybe next time you will find her stump....

I\'m so very out of shape I can\'t even walk a mile any more. I walk in spurts chasing after the grandkids. Sounds like a beautiful place where you went hiking.
