Kitty

Dear Kitty,              I would just like to say 'thank you so much' to Hector and Fraser. You don't understand how much the things that you guys say mean to me.              But I don't know how I can live in a world like this. I don't understand how people can learn about things in History and then instantly forget them, how people can just think 'oh, it's in the past, it doesn't matter anymore'. I can't stop thinking about the wars, how so many people died for no reason. Everyone else gives me reasons as why they died, or tells me that it was a long time ago, so therefore I should stop worrying about it. But I can't. I can't believe that people would just go and send other people off to war, knowing that they were going to die. Nobody ever deserves to die that way.              I don't think that anyone else would ever understand this. But I just can't stop thinking about all this. I've read Anne Frank's diary so many times that the words seem to have leaked into my head, and I can't stop thinking that she was just younger than me when she had to go into hiding. She didn't know that she'd never see her friends again; she didn't know that she was going to die in a concentration camp. She thought that the war would be over within a few months. She didn't know that she'd never get to go home again. All her hopes, her dreams, her potential...gone. For no reason. And I don't know how I can live in a world where that has happened to so many.I'm sorry, Kitty. I really, really ought to stop doing this. Francesca 'They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morningWe will remember them.' I know that this isn't about the Holocaust, but it is how I feel at the moment.
