Kentucky Basketball, and a little more

I played basketball in 6th-8th grades.  Couldn't play in high school -- had too many hogs to feed and too much tobacco to strip and book.  I didn't go to the University of Kentucky (UK)-- couldn't afford it!  But, I've loved the UK basketball teams ever since I was old enough to know what a basketball is.
When I was in high school, our assistant principal was Harold Ross.  After I graduated, he became principal.  He was on the 1958 Kentucky Wildcat NCAA championship team.  He didn't play much, but that's okay -- he's still ours.
When UK played LSU in January, we lost 87 -82.  When UK played LSU a month ago, we won by 1 point in OT.  The SEC tournament game tonight, however, was a different story!!!!!!!  The UK Wildcats turned Atlanta into Catlanta!  Could you hear them Big Blue Wildcats roar?  Coach Cal started 5 freshmen, yes freshmen. LSU started out looking too good .....  whoosh, whoosh, and its 6-0 LSU in a matter of minutes!  But the 'Cats gathered themselves and soon pulled ahead, and never looked back:  we won 85 - 67.  Honestly, I don't expect UK to win the NCAA this season, but I was thrilled with the way they played tonight! Next year ........
Freshmen ..... go, my little blue kittens, go!  If you hang around, I can barely wait to see what you can do when your are full-grown Wildcats!!!   GO BIG BLUE!

Okay, Kentucky is playing better.
My daughter lost her dog to congenital heart failure a while ago.  So, today she went to get her new puppy -- he's a 9-week old registered black and tan with a 12 generation pedigree.  He already weighs 30 pound.  She called ... I could hear him barking in the background.  I wonder what da bird (Jazz) is gonna think of this one????
I've lost enough weight that I'm back into size 10 jeans and skirts -- clothes that I "outgrew" about 3 1/2 years ago.  I'm pulling old clothes out of boxes and it's almost like having a new wardrobe.  It's not as good as going shopping, though.  I'm trying to keep walking, but some days .... y'all know what I mean.  I walked 2 miles today.  Tomorrow isn't looking good and Sunday is iffy.
I've lost more than 25 pounds, gone down 2 sizes, and does my husband notice????  Nooooooo.  And, MONKY vs. MONKEY is still the same.
Can't win them all, can I?

WOW! What a basketball fan you are! How awesome. And you used to play! That\'s even better. I love to love a sport and follow them and go to the games and get caught up in the excitement. I think it\'s healthy and wonderful. GO YOU!!!

And congrats on the weight loss! There\'s nothing easy about losing weight. 25 pounds is a lot!!! I suppose it would be like having a brand new wardrobe! You\'ve earned it! GOLD STAR!

I understand that hubby would be really appreciated by you a lot more if he paid attention to what was going on around him. Like you\'re half the size you used to be!! And the move.....he doesn\'t seem to be tuned in to you on that note either, huh? Hmmmmmmm. Ok, one day at a time. In the meantime, walk when you can and just keep getting thinner and beautifuller! Do for yourself what is healthy and best for you. Sooner or later this man will budge is some direction. Possibly a kick in the pants might be called for. We shall see. And I didn\'t just say that!! xo

I got caught up in the thrill of the basketball game as you were describing it! I don\'t follow college basketball(I\'m a Bull\'s fan though), but I\'m so glad your little freshman did so well. My alma mater, Loyola, hasn\'t won an NCAA tournament since the 60s - time to revamp the program - LOL. I\'m happy to hear you have a new grandpuppy. Make sure you post some pictures of him soon! Sorry to hear your husband is still being insensitive - I just wrote about mine on my last journal. They can be very hard to understand sometimes.

Go big blue!!! OK, I admit I know nothing about basketball but you got me all excited like I did!! :) Playing Horse with my friends when I was a kid is the extent of my hoop knowledge.
And congrats on the newest member of your family!! Can\'t wait to hear all about him (and how da bird is taking to his new sibling)! Sounds like he\'s gonna be a big boy!
And it sure does make a girl feel good to fit in our smaller clothes, doesn\'t it. Glad it\'s putting a smile on your face and making you feel good!
Sending many hugs your way...

OMG!! You sure sound fired up and full of fire with that basketball match, pilot . I\'m so wiped out today, that your excited journal nearly did me in.Actually, when I was young I played basketball, loved it.Anyway, I\'m happy that you enjoyed yourself and had some fun . Can\'t believe how much weight you\'ve lost, there\'s that determined nature of yours coming out again.Ask your husband if he needs a strong pair of glasses.Oops better not.Maybe it\'s making him feel a little insecure mmm.so he won\'t acknowledge the new you, hey.Maybe us girls are being a bit hard on him.I don\'t know they\'re a bit strange.Ive been in bed , collapsed all day and my husband has been out for most of the day.He just arrived home and gave me some japanese food, which was kind as I can\'t even get off the bed to feed myself .However he hardly said a word to me, just put the food beside my bed.As he was leaving, I said \"woof\" Don\'t think he heard me as his hearing is getting worse.I know he has been driving around paying bills and food shopping etc, for which I am most grateful, but hey what about a hug or some affectionate words.Mind you I have been too scared to look in the mirror today and cried for hrs last night from the severity of the fatigue caused by insomnia.Maybe I should just be grateful he comes back.Oh shut up Di!! Mundane, material brain. You\'re doing well Nancy pilot rock.Go Girl !!
