Keep the Change Reflections
in the book, Keep the Change, Life changer #4's exercise asks me to draw a diagram and label the measures i measure my self esteem. What worldly values or pressures help determine my value? Who are the people you allow to measure or help determine your worth?
How i measure my self esteem: How God views me:
My wife I am not a mistake
My kids I am not alone
My in laws I am loved
My success I have great potential
I am forgiven
The next part asks me to write down these truths as a prayer:
Lord god, i understand that i do allow other people to influence how i feel about myself. I thank you for the words of wisdom that you give to me in guidance. i also thank you for the understanding of the word forgiveness. i see that those measures are some of the roadblocks that are put up to stop me from achieving, and i know have to think that i am doing good in your eyes. I try my best, but let others who dont even see it influence my self worth, and let myself believe it. I will now know that it is you who already knows my worth, that you love me, and that i am already forgiven when i ask. Thank you god, for showing me the truth. Please forgive me of all sins that i have done, and the sins towards my wife.
amen.
The next reflections is from the book of Psalm 23:1-3; "The Lord my shepard, i shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of rightouseness for His name's sake." This passage to me says that God does have a plan and takes care of us, no matter the situation. he always comforts and provides. he also provides us the right path to go down. it applies to me, because i am following the path he has given me, and he is taking care of me and my problems, now and down the road.
The challanges/oppurtunities that await me today are... my wife filed for divorce on monday. I got the papers yesterday (wed) and today i filed for concilliation counseling and my response to dissmiss the divorce. I am taking the right steps in changing myself, but i cannot be fooled. That still is a challange and an opportunity to change myself. the bigger challange was and still is to let go of my wife. The saying "if you love someone/thing enough, let it go. if it comes back, it was meant to be." It is hard to admit that she is leaving. I miss her and want her back, because she is my wife and i do worry and care. I know understand after reading some more, that she is not my level of self worth. I did want her back because of my self esteem issues. I now understand with a bigger sense that i do love her, and genuinley want to change myself out of the ways i was, because i did not like them.
Once again, my guiding thought for today is that god is watching over me. I have given my problems to god, and letting him take care of the problems. I prayed very hard last night abou the situation, and woke up feeling better. i am giving my problems to him, and he is relieving the stress from me! It really feels great to now know that he is guiding me and with me. I am trusting that god will make me a better person and continue to introduce people into my life that will help me along this bumpy road that i am on and have to finish.
