Just Need To Vent A Little!

My other half doesn't understand how stressful it is dealing with Marlow on a full time basis.  Ecspecially now that she has become somewhat of a little devil!  He get's home and I'm tired, cranky, fed up and needing a break.  He then accuses me of being over dramatic and that he has worked all day, harder then me might he add, and he doesn't want Mar shoved into his arms the second he is through the door by a scowling woman.

But she is into everything!!  Seriously.  I cannot sit down, I cannot go to the washroom, I have to make a lunch in fifteen minutes max or else she will destroy something.  Let me describe a typical day with Marlow.

We wake up at 9am.  She usually starts out ok.  By about ten she is starting to get snarky.  She is teething and it isn't going well.  She starts to scream and kick if I hold her or if I let her lay on the floor.  To save myself some bruises I usually let her kick it out on the floor.  After ten minutes when she realizes mommy isn't going to baby her she get's up and takes off.  She will play quietly just long enough to lull me into a false sense of security.  Then BAM!

She will throw toys at me, heavy toys, then she will take off running, either down the hall to the closet or into the kitchen.  The closet is a wonderful treasure trove of things she can't have, and we need to buy a lock for it but broke has taken on an all new level for us lately!  The kitchen has cupboards, dog food and water, the garbage, the dishwasher, the stove, the freezer(our fridge is one with the freezer on the bottom).  She will go through or into any of these!  I have uses elastics to pin the cupboard doors together as she figured out how to pop the locks.  I've put the garbage on the deck, but winter is well on it's way and it's cold to open that door so much.  I've put the dog food up but we have chihuahua's and we free feed them and putting the food up is causing them some weight loss, and they are both 7lbs, they can't afford the loss.

Then comes lunch.  A relativley calm time.  She eats well and fast.  When she is done she get's to play a bit longer.  And that's more of me chasing her around, attempting to keep her entertained long enough to keep her out of trouble before nap.

Nap time is when I get to clean all the mess from the morning.  That includes toys, collecting the tupperware she emptied out of the tupperware drawer, vacumming(she shows signs of slight pet allergies), making sure she didn't liberate and hide some trash, making sure the dogs get a good go at the food at water.  And I'm finished it all just in time for her to wake up.

Dad get's home right after wake up.  So he comes into a well rested baby, a clean house, and a frazzled me and he's confused.  He thinks all I do all day is sit on my butt!!  As if!  And Marlow is such a daddy's girl that she hangs on him when he's home, demanding his attention.  But she sees me all the time and she could care less wether she get's all my time right then and there because she knows I'll always be around.

Then I cook supper, and suddenly, Marlow want's me.  What does Joey do?  He says 'oh, she want's you' and passes her off.  So I'm trying to cook on a hot stove with a hot oven with a baby hanging on my legs or in my arms.  He watches TV because he want's to relax.

I feed her supper, clean her up and her highchair, and then I get to eat my own supper.  By then he is done eating as well and back watching TV.  So I eat alone, with a baby tugging on my shirt and trying to crawl up my knees.  Then I clean up supper and do the dishes.  Plus I bathe her if need be and brush her teeth.  Get her in PJ's.  Then I have another hour or so of chasing her around the house rescuing things.
The other day she got into his lunch kit and trashed the bit of leftover sandwich in there, and he snapped at me for not watching her good enough.  I had been in the washroom!

When all is said and done and she is in bed for the night I then have to re-clean, plus put away his mess.  There is always laundry to fold.  And when he's ready for bed and I say  'I just want half hour by myself and then I will come to bed'.  He says 'you had all day to yourself, and you said you were tired for some silly reason, so come to bed.'

I just wish he understood how much work it really is being a stay at home mom!
