Just 'hmmmmm'

Managed to get my stress down a bit but didn't sleep well... Tossed and turned over issues regarding work....woke up tired. But the day seemed a little smoother. In the staff meeting I did myself no favours by speaking up as we were handed yet more work and saying 'I have to say professionally and realistically this work can't physically be done unless we are given some non contact time'
One of the staff handing out the work threw her dagger look at me... Other staff stayed quiet but afterwards thanked me for speaking up.....hence they kept themselves safe but let me take the bruising.

I was annoyed with myself

I've got old and cynical

I see the 'wheel' and I don't like how it works

The worst staff are now managing my school because the older staff know the amount of stress isn't worth the money

I must address my dissatisfaction at work and sort it out

The time has come

I think I need a career change

I also feel I need a life outside of work

I'm bored

My best friend phones me up each evening which is sweet and so does my sister

It's time to get back to fitness and clubs....I'd backed away from them for a few weeks because I just felt sorry for myself

Time to put up a bit of a fight for me

X

Yeah, ironic how we stand up and speak to the injustices, while others are glad to let us \"flail in the wind.\" Thanking us afterwards (which is validating, but annoying) but letting us take the fall.

I guess we have to \"pick & choose our battles.\" One way to think of it is: \"Will what I say change the outcome?\" If you know that it won\'t and it only makes you seem like you\'re complaining or a difficult worker, then perhaps save the battle for a more important issue. Such as if you\'re being personally evaluated and criticized for not doing work, then to speak up?

The person handing out dagger looks just wants to control everyone, expecting everyone to \"suck it up\" and behave. You\'re just putting voice to what is True. Shame that no one else stands up with you, to make you all a united, strong front.

People Suck.

Sometimes I ask myself if I\'m feeling disempowered and if so, how can I feel empowered in what I do, on my own behalf. Does empowerment have to feel angry? Or can it make me feel lighter and freer?

So cute to hear about your daughter & her excitement. And the sunglasses! LOL

Glad the juicing is making you feel better. I\'ve been better at taking my vitamins and feeling better because of it.

I know all about the best friend being a life line. I wouldn\'t be here (or anywhere) without him. Just the truth.

Thank you for your friendship here as well. It means a lot to me!

Yes it isn\'t at all fair that you take the flak when everyone else is thinking the same thing. I worked in teaching for several years and it IS a very difficult job. You work hours and hours of unpaid overtime. Then you get told by other folk how lucky you are with all of those holidays! Holidays are taken up with planning and marking. The only free time I felt I got was the middle bit of the summer hols- which would be the same amount of time that everyone gets. But people still thnk it\'s an easy job. It\'s the hardest job I\'ve done, I know that. It feels like it takes over your life.
Targets, constant curriculum changes, endless assessing/recording in 50 million different places, being observed, leading to more targets, etc.
I think if I were in teaching now I would just try to take each day at a time. Easy to say, I know. But it\'s a waste of time to lose sleep over it. Just stop caring about the crap. Because that\'s what it is. xxxxx
