JUST HERE!

Saturday, 1-31-09:  Okay...I am just here.  I went back to work yesterday. I worked Monday and then Friday.  It will be a VERY hard week next week working five days!  On Friday our class went on a field trip.  It was fun, I guess.  We have one student that is just harder to enjoy than others.  I hate that.  He is really a pretty nice kid when he is not being a pain.  But, mostly, he is a pain!  I am having a hard time dealing with the other para I work with.  I have lost all respect since he was MEAN to one of "my" boys.  I am not so good at forgetting or allowing someone to regain my respect.  Once gone...forever gone.    Today wasn't too bad.  Craig worked part of the day.  This evening we went out for pizza and then did some discount store shopping. (I don't want to mention the name!)  It was kind of a "normal" day.  Tomorrow we have plans to go to a movie.  Chris gave us coupons for a local theatre, at Christmas.  He thought that wasn't enough.  We thought it was a great gift!  I think we will see the movie "Australia" with Nicole Kidman.  The previews I saw looked pretty good. Adam is okay.  He has a new girlfriend.  She is TOO cute!  The last one he had was okay and helped him with his grief and get over the hurdle.  But, I just couldn't warm up to her.  So much drama, it seemed, in her family life.  This girl seems to be quite nice.  She seems confidant, goes to a community college, and is completely okay with talking to Craig and I.  I like that.  Adam is going to her house for Super Bowl Sunday.  He knows nothing about football as we are not a football family.  It is his first time meeting her family!  I think he will do fine, though, if he remains true to himself.  I am in the process of joining a writer's group.  One of the members has been asking me for years.  Finally, I am going to do it.  I am still in the process of writing my book.  I hope some of the members will be able to help me or at least hold my hand as I go through the publisher process. It helps that a teacher I work with, and really like, is going to join at the same time.  We will have each other for support. I have decided it is time for me to do something that is just for me.  I have spent most of my life doing for others.  Now, it is my time!  I don't really care if others like it, or not.  However, I hope I become a better person because of it.  Maybe me, taking care of me, will make me an even stronger, more loving, person.  I hope so. Oh!  A really happy thing....a "girl" I used to babysit gave birth to a healthy girl yesterday!  I have known this "girl" for eighteen years.  We are very close.  She even told me about the pregnancy before she told her mom.  I think she just wanted to make sure she had support. She was so afraid to tell her Mom.   Her mom and I are friends.  She was kind of going down the wrong path even though she comes from a wonderful family.  The pregnancy was a blessing in so many ways!  She straightened up!  She is so good with the baby, I am told.  And, she has met a man who seems to be very good for her and is willing to accept this baby as his own. And, I, get to be the adoptive Grandma, Aunt, whatever!  It is so nice to be recognized by all these young people who were part of my past!  It speaks well of them, at their age, to even consider me.  And, I like to think it speaks well of me, that they remember.    So, tonight, for me, I have been working on my book and thinking about the wonderful blessings of a new life.  This has been ME time.  Now if I could just hit the Total Gym.....

Sounds like your \"going for it\" and that\'s terrific. It\'s so true that we can\'t take care of others without taking care of ourselves first. Hope all goes well with the writers group. Much love. Robin

Glad to hear your kindness and love is being returned. Congratulations Aunty Grandma. You go on joining the writers group. I\'m sure they will be a great support for you and that you\'ll just whizz through the book and get it published in no time. Time foe you is not selfish its a requirement because you cannot take care of someone else if you first haven\'t taken care of yourself. Good luck. Love and hugs Cathy
