Just beginning -- yet again
Due to anxiety I average nearly a day a month out of work due to episodes of anxiety (I have generalized anxiety but also avoidant personality disorder) where I'm afraid to leave home or go to work -- or anything else. My employers have been understanding but I work in a small department (3 people) and if I'm out it does cause problems. My boss, tho kind, has cited me on reviews for this, most recently in August. I have a new dr. appointment next month (I'm self pay, often can't afford to go and have to cancel) and will ask about additional meds; last new med was a disaster but there are others out there I haven't tried. I've let my boss and my personnel manager know that I'll probably have one more episode during holiday season (holidays are always bad and I always have at least one episode) but that I am going back to the doctor to see what else can be done. In the meantime, if I feel an episode coming on, I'm going to try to go in late rather than miss the whole day (altho sometimes I can't bring myself to do even that). I'm also going to be careful about spending time with others -- I have avoidant personality disorder (like a "people phobia") and while pushing myself to be with others helps to an extent, doing too much of it can bring on an episode. So I'm going to try to walk a careful line there. Oh, and I'm going to try to post more often here as well. I'm not good at getting to know people well, but the people I see on this site are pretty terrific.
