JUST ANOTHER DAY...

Sunday night, 8-17-08:  Just another day...Although, Craig and I did go out to eat tonight.  That has not happened for a very long time!  It was okay.  We even laughed together which is a very rare occasion these days.  Just yesterday we were sort of fussing and Adam jokingly told us we needed time outs if we didn't stop.  I told him, "As you can see your dad & I don't get along very well anymore."  Craig said, "That's not true."  I told him I felt like it was.  He then told me, "Well, we need to work on that."  Maybe there is hope...  Except later I told him I wanted him to go to counseling with me in Sept.  He said he didn't need to go.  I told him I needed him to go so he could understand me.  It is sad....my friends all know me better than my husband does these days!  I got my utility room fairly clean and organized.  Finally.  I still have lots of papers to go through but they can wait until a yucky day. That was a HUGE job.  It was totally out of hand!  I feel much better going into it, now. My Scotty memory for today is so sweet.  He was about 3 and we were hiking around my farm in Fordland.  On a rock was a cute little lizard standing up.  I asked Scott what it was and he, in awe, said, "A dinosaur!!!"  Of course I laughed and explained he was close, but it was a lizard.  Later, when I thought about it, I realized the lizard was, in fact, about the size of the dinosaurs we looked at in picture books.  No wonder he was confused!  Anyway, it was too cute! That has always been one of my favorite memories. Mom starts radiation tomorrow.  I am not thrilled.  She is really not thrilled.  She is doing pretty well at the moment.  I sure hope this doesn't screw that up.  She will go 5 days a week, for 5 weeks.  We are all nervous. I have meetings & training all day this coming Tuesday.  And, I think I go in for a staff mtg. on Thurs.  Next Monday is the 1st day of school.  I am very anxious about it.  I think it will be tough getting back into a structured routine.  I don't really have a choice, though.  I have to work.  I am sure I will be okay once I get started.  I just need to stay in my moment.

Scotty wasn\'t far wrong, lizards are the closest things to dinosaurs still living. It is cute t see hw he perceived the size though when he was so little. Good luck with going back to work. It sounds as if you have had a productive summer with all the clean outs! It will be nice to come home to each day. Good luck to your Mom too. Thinking of you heaps. Charlotte. xo

Why do men think they don\'t need counselors? I think it is like admitting they are weak. Brian would go with me...but not by himself. I hope your hubby comes around. Precious, precious memory of Scott. I start classes today...I am okay with it...but like you dreading the routine of it all. Once I get into I will be fine...good luck to you and keep taking those baby steps! Love to you...Karen

What a sweet Scotty story! I personally just love it when other DS friends share their memories--that makes something positive our of our shattering experiences. I will say a prayer for your Mom, and for you, too--you will have a lot on your plate very soon! Love, Judy

I couldn\'t get my husband to go to a counselor. He also said. \"I don\'t need a counselor\". I went myself. He has no idea what is going through my mind. Scream.....
Love the story about the lizards. Thanks for sharing. Hugs & Love Lucille

What a darling memory. I\'m so happy we don\'t lose the memories too. I hope hubby sees the importance in counseling. Sometimes you just have to ask for him to go just once then no obligation after that and maybe with that one visit he will see how helpful it is. Best of luck with school. Love Robin

Cute memory of Scotty. My husband didn\'t think there was any problem with the way things were when Bobby first died. For a long time he wouldn\'t stay in a room if we were talking about Bobby. Men they really think they are strong in the time of need..Hugs, Connie

I can\'t get Bill to go to a counsellor, maybe it\'s a guy thing. I love the Scott story. To a small person lizard and dinosaurs are pretty similar. Good luck to your Mom. Love and hugs Cathy
