Journal for January 11th, 2012
So I'm at the airport right now. I made it with plenty of time to spare. Of course, going to the airport you have to have plenty of time to get through security and all. Security was a breeze... There was almost no line and I got through easily. Of course, I don't have anything to worry about... I almost forgot to take off my watch but I remembered at the last second before walking through the metal detector. I don't know if it would have been significant enough to set it off, but I didn't want to test it. The last thing I want is to be singled out for a pat-down. I'm just a good girl with nothing to hide, but I don't want to be made to feel like I did something wrong. But I'm here, waiting for my flight. I wanted to get wifi, but you have to pay for it here and I don't feel like paying for it. I can just sit here and type my journal like I do on the train.
It's funny... I put in the times of travel on Google Maps, and for the train I always get there later than the time it tells me. So I put down to get here at 12:15 for my 2pm flight, and I get here at noon. Oh well... it's best to be safe where you can. I had an uneventful ride here on the bus.. I got through, even with my huge bag. Well, now my huge bag is on the way to the plane as checked baggage, so I just have my smaller bags with me. I'm going to sign off for now and let my laptop battery charge. See you on the plane!
I'm on the plane now... I'm over halfway through my trip. It's 2:45 LA time, or 5:45 Miami time. I'm trying to get myself on LA time already, but that means that I woke up at 5am LA time (before 8am Miami time). I've been feeling good for most of the day... just a bit tired. I might try and take a nap, but it's hard on the plane like I said yesterday. It has to do with my trust of stranger. I don't trust them not to do things to me when I'm sleeping. That's why I have to take klonopin when I fly if I want to sleep. I'm the same way on the bus, train, whatever. When I'm on the bus and the train going to my mom's, it's a combination of factors. I don't want to miss my stop, plus the whole sleeping around people thing. I'm so uncomfortable.... The seats are tiny, and there is no room in front of you for the laptop. It doesn't help that I have a big laptop. My pants are sliding down when I move... that's what I get for wearing loose jeans. I feel so uncomfortable... I have to adjust my pants all the time. Not how I wanted to spend my flight.
The movie on the plane was Real Steel.. not a bad movie. I guessed the ending when the movie started, and I was right. I'm not going to spoil it, but it's still not a bad movie. If you know sports movies, you've seen the story already. It was still a nice way to spend a couple hours. I don't feel that different from sitting on the couch at home (except for the sliding pants). Geo is at home sick. He has food poisoning. I'm glad I didn't get it. That would have sucked. I have flown cross country while sick and barfing the whole time, and it's something that I don't want to repeat. I do have some bubbles in my stomach from drinking ginger ale on the plane (something I drank to try and settle my heartburn) but I'm managing to keep food in. I brought my lunch, and I've been snacking on it the whole way. Two more hours and I will be in LA! I will update you when I get there!
Edited to add: It's now Thursday. I wasn't able to get internet when I first got here, so I had to post this today. I'm safe, happy, and got my favorite tacos for dinner last night. But I'm safe and sound, and feeling good!
