Job Opportunity
I need advice. I don't think I've mentioned this on here before. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a woman who said her boss wanted to interview me for a job.
It was worded a bit strangely and I had no idea how she found me or my resume because I had not applied for the job, and my indeed resume had not been updated.
I thought about it for awhile, and I think I know the guy who wants to interview me. I met him recently thru work. He was a consultant for something we were doing a few months ago. He had the same first name and from the same town. It has to be him.
So I replied to the email and said I was interested and when I am available for an interview. I also looked up the job online and officially applied and submitted my resume. Last night, this guy's assistant emailed me back.
This could be a really good opportunity for me. This company is top ranked in how they educate and their training programs. It's a farther drive, but I would like to move anyway. I'm feeling a little cautious about it, but I have to know what kind of job this is, if I can do it, and who is this guy whowants me to work there so badly. Am I being poached? Am I good enough for such a prestigious environment? Lots of thoughts going thru my head.
I need to set up the interview today. Trying to figure out when to set it up for. They want me to come in next week. This is all so strange but intriguing.

Back in the bad old days when people still took risks, researching the company you were interviewing with was call, "Prepping for the interview." I typically knew how much I liked the company and how much I wanted the job before the interviewer called my name. I researched deeply enough that I could ask insightful questions.
The same techniques work for the more security-minded, as well. Knowing what you are walking in to is basic defense strategy.

As for how they got your resume. . . In virtual reality, nothing ever leaves The Cloud. Sometimes, just for fun, I go phishing for web sites, etc., I put up in the last millennium. Well, I used too. . . It isn't the funnest game in the app store, much less The Cloud.
I set the interview for Thursday so I have time to prepare. I'm more worried about getting my hair done and which of my glasses make me look smarter. I have no idea what a Cloud is, but I doubt I will need one for this interview. I'm familiar with the company and I know what they pay. I'm familiar with my resume and my skillset. That's all I really need to know pre interview. Jobs are easy to come by, they are everywhere. I won't know until the interview if this is one I will want to leave my current job for. I need to meet the people there and get a feel for it, see the parking situation, find out exactly job duties and education opportunities.
If it were me, I would go to the interview and see who he is and what he has to offer me.
Company's steal workers from other companies ALL the time! There is a huge demand for trained workers in certain occupations especially the tech industry and the Health services fields but there are many more in addition to those. I don't think you have anything to worry about and everything to gain. If you've been wanting to leave the area where you currently are then this sounds like the universe providing you with a good opportunity to do so.

Sorry, Ghost. "The Cloud" is mostly a new and improved marketing term for the internet. I guess it hasn't caught on as well as the marketers were hoping. I thought it was as cliche as the app stores.

Lol arfie idk how to use the internet. They don't teach that in schools. I get on this site at work. I barely know how to use my phone. There is no internet where I live because it's too rural. I grew up in a household with no computer, we wrote essays by hand at school, even in college. Its also common for people to use well water have no electricity here. I grew up with an out house and only put in a septic system less than 10 years ago. I don't have TV and just had to cancel my newspaper subscription a few days ago because I couldn't afford it. My job uses old typewriters from the seventies and most of my clients can't read.
So no arfie, this cloud you speak of hasn't reached us yet. Can it solve the meth heroine and obesity crisis we are battling, along with our poverty?
The Cloud works more in the background and I think that's why most people are not aware of it. It's used alot as a backup to your files and important data and if you use a google android mobile phone and have a computer or laptop at home, when the phone is new, it will ask you if you want to sync your phone with your computer so that your passwords, photos and other important data can be access from your home computer via google's cloud which is also called google's Drive.
If you use internet explorer then their cloud is called, "One Drive" They give us a certain amount of free storage but if you use alot of storage then you gotta pay for it. I think One Drive's is only one gig but google's is quite alot more at 15 gigs. I have alot stored there..
Sometimes I will upload a movie to my google drive and send the link to all my buddies to watch for free :)

Thanks Arf. Ended up not doing the interview, guys. A woman having the same name emailed me about another job at a different company. Seems like some computer generated thing from indeed. With some help I found out the job position and salary isn't better than where I am, about the same. My job is closer so I'm gonna stay here. I get good bonuses here and a raise every year.
