Jackson got himself into a real pickle today.

Well a pickle jar, actually.

i was having a pretty good day .....  still crashes, but feeling better. Tim built a new bookcase for me to put my crochet books and some other stuff.  I moved all of my stuff, cleaned the area, put the new bookcase in place, and put my stuff on it.  Then I went outside for a while.  Tim was working on planting the garden.  I talked to him and played with the dogs for a little bit, then I came back inside.

10 minutes later, Tim is at the door yelling, "Nancy!  Come help!"  He was standing at the door with Jackson (aka, Hungry Jack).  Jackson had found an old, glass gallon pickle jar that was sitting at the corner of the shed.  He had stuck his head in the jar and couldn't get it out.  Tim couldn't get Jack's head out of the pickle jar.  I tried with Tim holding Jack.  I couldn't do anything without running far too high a risk of hurting Jack.  So, I called the vet.  Vet said, "Uhm, I, uhh, ahhh, well, just bring him up here and we'll see what we can do."  So, we hop in the car. .....  Tim holding Jack and the pickle jar ...... Making sure Jack was getting air ......  me driving, 11 miles to the vet ........ Jack wiggling and whimpering and whining.

Now, it was Friday afternoon and the vet's office was rather crowded.  But when we walked in with a puppy who had his head stuck in an old pickle jar ........ well, nobody complained when Jack went to 1st priority.  It took 5 of us, a towel, a hammer, and a pair of bolt cutters, but the vet got the jar off.  Jack is fine!

After is was all over, there were plenty of jokes.  Our vet said that was a first for him!  A lady that was there with her dog said, "I don't know what that puppy's name is ... But you shoulda name it TROUBLE!"  One of of the other customers asked if we were considering giving that puppy away. I said no, but we'll let you babysit him for a week or two so we can have a break!  The customer started waving his hands in the air and walking backwards, NO, NO!

The vet said he wished he'd though to take a photo before he got the jar off Jack's head.  Can't you just the the ad in the local paper now?  ....... Before and after photos. Caption:  "Todd County Animal Clinic:  We even get your puppies out of pickle jars!"

My head hurts.  I'm going to take some meds and go to bed.  Goodnight, all.
