Its starting to take a toll.
My Erma just hadn't been getting better. Thursday, the day she was expected to be discharged, brought vomiting and abdominal distension. X-rays confirmed an ileus. Yesterday, they put a pick line in for TPN as it has been a week since surgery. I stayed home, as I had Grayson (my Friday) and I do not have the strength to schlepp him around the hospital. At 4:00 pm, (Grayson was just leaving,) I got a phone call from the hospital telling me that they had discovered Erma's incision had eviscerated. Basically, the nurse found her with small and large intestine all over. The surgeon phoned me to tell me he would not do surgery, but that it was needed and he was recommending her to be moved to a larger hospital with intensive care and critical care surgical teams. Erma was transferred to Green Bay via ambulance and Leo (that poor, dear man that my responsibilities have become a burden) drove me to Green Bay and they did surgery to put Erma back together again. We were home in bed by midnight, but I am feeling poorly. Can't put my finger on it, but would just as soon stare in to space and do nothing.
Today, I am headed back to Green Bay with Erma's elderly sister, then I need to pick up a few groceries, and I am home to babysit Grayson, so that Nicole and Bo can go out with her college friends. Nicole offered to stay home, but I would not hear of it. We are expected to have freezing rain, snow and high winds tonight not to mention a Packer game tomorrow, so I know I will not be going to Green Bay tomorrow.
Poor Erma is so tired. My spirit was tired, but in the surgical waiting room was a minister from another town that was there for an elderly lady as well. He prayed with us and bolstered me with verse and support. Funny how God makes things work at times.
I will rest all day tomorrow, after church duties. I can hardly wait. Now if I could just get my tummy and mestinon to get along a bit better. Middle of the night bathroom runs are draining me as well.

Sorry to hear about Erma. I understand because we are going through the same thing with my husband\'s mom. She is 93 and we just got her out of the hospital yesterday. I will be praying for her and for you, Debbie. Take care. Love, Cathy

You are a wonderful friend and caretaker to many, Debbie. Glad the minister was there to bolster you spirit. Take care and get some rest so that you can continue doing what you love.
