it's really true

coffee first thing in the morning really does make for a better morning LOL.

I can't have coffee this morning because we're having 'liturgy' first...

and to explain what that means, it means we're taking communion and

we can't eat or drink anything before communion. :(

:)! yowza!!

So I figured if I would be much happier if I could bathe my insides first thing

in the morning with coffee! But I can't so I'll just dream of coffee as I write this

post here!! heh

i'm pretty religious about my morning coffee and smoke ritual, but i am a solid believer in keeping the habit pot well-stirred. it pays to keep that comfort zone well-exercised.

i underwent my roman catholic formation in my 40's and undertook that challenge of fasting before the daily communion for about a year. i quickly snapped back to the old morning ritual, but ponder often the chunks of stew which floated to the top in that stir of the habit pot. i still haven't found clear or concise verbage for ^it^.

The chunks of stew that come up maybe are about like what you are venerating religiously and what the focus those values within that mean.?
Today while I fasted I became very focused on the service, not going to a transcendent place but I was just intellectually alive. I found myself thinking about how some chase after grounding values and some go for the fashion. I’m not judging, I’m still growing with what I know about myself and my life.. I was just hoping to give you Arfie a platform to talk about what you’re having a hard time expressing

thank you, mark. that was both insightful and compassionate. you even offered me a lead-in. . .

veneration never has been my strong suit. as a child, i felt god as my favorite and only loyal playmate. she/he/it has an amazing sense of humor and encourages me to vent my anger openly and honestly, when needed and played a willing channel. the priest who oversaw my catechism was an imported irishman and encouraged this perception of god enthusiastically. god is a loving companion far more than a stern dictator.

the pieces of stew which most resonated with me concern the ease with which we can sleepwalk through life, we don't seek what is good for us or what we love. we seek what is most familiar.
