It's unbareable
Living with my alcoholic partner is sometimes unbareable. I never know whether I'm helping or making it worse. I can't stand him when he's drunk, and he's a crap dad wasted. He's the best though when he's sober and I've never been happier. He refuses to quit completely and tries to do harm reduction but he basically just drinks whenever, and recently he's been drinking more and hiding bottles more. He's drunk now and is blaming me because me and his ex wife fight. But it's just because he wants to. He drank drove with my son today. I don't know how to cope. I love him but it's just so hard.

Loz, just try to remember that it is not him. He has a disease that has taken control of him. There is no cure, just a remedy, and that is to stop drinking. But he has to admit to his problem and want to stop. All of us here have similar stories about the madness that ruled our lives! Some are still struggling, and some have been successful. But everyone here is here for one reason---we realized we had a problem and admitted we needed help.
