IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME!

October 4, 2010:  I did not realize I had not been on here for so long until I looked at my last journal.  Thank you for all the comments and support.
So much has/is, happened/happening.  My mom is in Stage 4 Colon cancer.  As of last Friday, all treatment was discontinued and Hospice has been called in.  There are now spots on her liver and lungs.  She has been very weak, and ill, through most of the summer.  Luckily she does not have pain.
I went back to work at the school in late August.  I do not like my placement this year but am very grateful to have a job, at all.  Oh, it is not that my job is awful, I just preferred the placement from last year.
My youngest son has been struggling with a herniated disc.  He goes to a neurologist on October 22, Scott's birthday.
This past Saturday, the daughter-in-law, of a long time friend, was killed due to complications in a house fire.  She was only twenty-five.  My friends son, and my oldest son, have been friends since sixth grade.  They are now thirty-one.  It hurts me, so much, to know the struggles they are going through now, and will later.
Many of Scott's friends talked me into having a Celebration of Life party, for him, on his birthday.  He would've been twenty-five, this year.  I don't know how all this will go.  But, it seems to mean a lot to them and I will have many of my close family and friends here, as well.  I will, at some point, post photos.  It does mean so much that Scott's friends are still remembering him and so much a part of my life.  They wanted to do this last year and I just couldn't.  Like I said, I am not sure how this will go.  I am afraid of the whole event.
To all of my DS friends, please know that even though I am not here often, you continue to be in my thoughts.  I hope you're continuing, as I am, to find your way.  This journey never seems to get easier, but, it is different, now.
Peaceful wishes!
P.S.  I can be found on facebook as Ginger Grant.  Many of our DS friends are there.  It seems facebook is a bit easier, right now, for me to keep up with.  Hope to "see" you there as well as here.

Life is a vale of tears, my Christian friend tells me. I\'m beginning to believe it. Hope your mother is comfortable. We used hospice for my mom for her last 6 months and she passed them in peace.

Big hugs and lots of prayers for you and your family. I like the idea of a Celebration of Life for Scott\'s birthday and it has to make you feel good that his friends want to contribute. Praying for gentle days. Lynette ~ Matthews mom

I pray that your mom remains comfortable for her remaining time and that your son recovers from his herniated disk. I hear that is quite painful. So sorry to hear of your friends DIL. So sad. Hugs to you, Belinda
