Answer the questions of your potential customers
A smart keyword strategy tackles only enough keywords to be supported with a robust, multifaceted on-site and off-site campaign. Trying to be jack of all keyword phrases will make you master of none. If you can’t budget for 6 to 12 months of SEO, you might be better off putting that budget somewhere else. One of the strongest signals the engines use in rankings is anchor text. If dozens of links point to a page with the right keywords, that page has a very good probability of ranking well for the targeted phrase in that anchor text. When it comes to out-competing competitor pages, you are going to have to look at what the top competing page is doing when it comes to main content text. Chances are – they have some unique text on the page
Keep Your Content Updated
There are many other items which can affect a website’s search ranking, including all of the following: keyword research and implementation, back links, link building, content, directory submission, competitor analysis, optimization both on and off of the website in question, and still more variables. Link Building is an indisputable part of the Search Engine Optimization process. Connecting a website to the rest of the Internet without links isn’t impossible, considering the fact there are many different content creation companies willing to do the work for you. However, the costs for this kind of work can ramp up quickly, making Link Building through a third party too costly for most new websites. Google can, and does, ignore low relevance links. The worst offenders are generic links (“click here”) and even worse, off-topic links. While external links that point to your site provide long-term SEO value, so do links on your site. When you include internal links (links on your website that point to other pages on your website), you send signals to search engines that tell them how to understand, prioritize, and rank the pages on your site.
Auditing Existing Content
Get specific by taking a structured approach. It’s not enough to focus on the right keyword—you need to make sure that you’re communicating the ‘right’ information to Google in a structured way. You can hire good writers, but that is often an expensive proposition. You may be under the impression that it will take an extensive amount of time to create enough content to make a difference or to start appearing in the search results. Just breathe. Even the creation of one blog post a week will reap you 52 posts over the period of a year. Keyword cramming is old news and will probably result in a penalty anyway So, don’t do it! Instead, focus on creating real, interesting and valuable content. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "There are literally hundreds of factors that contribute to your final rankings. On top of that, it can be hard to determine what kinds of trends Google may associate with your chosen keywords."
Failing To Optimize Keywords
You can use some practical tools that’ll make it much easier to find keywords. You will still have to make a short list yourself (no corners to cut there), but once you have ten to twenty proper keywords, you can use several tools to find similar keywords. Using these tools will significantly speed up the process of coming up with long lists of keywords. Web pages must contain a minimum number of words, feature targeted keywords and highlight local modifiers to ensure they appear prominently in relevant, organic search results. Search engines aren't good at completing online forms (such as a login), and thus any content contained behind them may remain hidden. As touched upon before - backlinks are simply links from other websites directing viewers to your site. Search engines love these.
