Is it possible?

I'm afraid this entry is a bit of a downer.

The last week or so (probably more) I have been wondering. I used to be a fairly optimistic person. About life and indeed love.
Now I look around and can't help but wonder.

Is lasting, real love a possibility?
The last few weeks I have seen and heard of other people who have had relationship trouble, dumped, been dumped, had tough choices etc.

I worry for the people that I feel could make it. I truly hope they can.

Personally I am far more pessimistic than I used to be. My trust is shattered. My belief that love is a real thing has been damaged. I want to believe again. But how do you do that when the person you wanted to share your world with, who you thought was with you all the way tears your world apart?

When you see so many loves burn out.

I do hope that I can be proven wrong. For the people out there trying to keep the flame alive.
I just don't know for now.

Is it better to have love and lost than to never have loved at all?

I don\'t know either!

I do think people can make it. It\'s work and takes both people working.

Frycandy is right...it takes both parties working on it. If it\'s just one, it\'s doomed to fail. Love can be rekindled but it takes both people caring and giving for the common good.

Myself, I have to believe its possible. If not, what am I fighting for?

You\'ll feel better about it sooner or later...I was where you are at one time, and am still a little doubtful as far as I\'m concerned. Once trust is broken, it\'s hard to even think of trusting someone else.

I was at a point a while back where I was beginning to believe that \"love\" is just a dream, not a real thing that\'s attainable and sustainable. Being \"in love\" amounts to infatuation and lust combined, or so was my mode of thinking at the time. They fade after a while and what is left? I was thinking that \"love\" was just a big opportunity for Hallmark and the florists and chocolate companies.

I am the biggest believer in love that you\'ll ever find, but I was doubting. I\'ve been writing love poems since I was 15 years old (and that\'s a long time! LOL), believing that \"To love and be loved is the greatest joy on Earth.\" One of my favorite quotes. You won\'t find a more mushy, sentimental, caring, loving person than I\'ve always been. But once it gets crushed, really crushed, it\'s hard to believe again...

I finally decided that I was NOT going to let that one person take the joy and the happiness out of my life. If I should ever happen to be fortunate enough to love and be loved again, I\'ll know more of how to truly cherish it, nurture it, and to keep it alive. I thought I was doing that before, but something went wrong...I guess one person can\'t do it alone.

So, Hurtforloving, please don\'t give up and become cynical when it comes to love...there IS a better tomorrow out there!!! Hugs!!

Love is most definitely real and attainable. When your looking for it , you will not find it, however, believe me when I say it is VERY REAL. I was one I the lucky ones who married my high school sweetheart and we have been together 15 years. I am truly excited to see her each and every morning we wake up. I am her other half and she is mine. I think of her throughout the day several times a day. I always tell her the reason I am not a lucky person now is because I used it all up when I found her. I am looking forward to spending every second God blesses me with on this earth spending it with her. She is my best friend and I am hers. That is what it takes to make it work. You have to be there for one another and go out of your way to show the other how much they mean to you. Never be afraid to communicate your feelings with one another. Love is being able to just sit with that person quietly and know what\'s on each other\'s minds. I agree there are a lot of relationships that do not make it. That is because it wasn\'t real love. You do NOT fall out of true love, it only grows stronger with each day. You will find it when you least expect it and it will blow you away. You will be forever changed. Trust me!
