is it over?

history seems to be repeating itself again. as with the last mask-on in the 1919 flu epidemic, the pandemic management yaddahs seem to be disappearing without a single lick of conscious processing. let's keep our metaphorical masks on and just pretend it never happened.

only two and a half days left in the school year. big bro and big sis are conflicted and without words to explain the apprehensions attached to summer vacation. my caregiver sense believes they are struggling to find the differences between a global shutdown and a summer vacation. so am i.

has there been another upswing in the local maskite population? are the healthier of those maskites swaggering with intent to erradicate all the indecently exposed smiles averting their eyes and scampering to give them the greatest possible social distance? i still can't look a maskite in the eye, so i donae know if they are wearing "eye smiles" or eye hate. have i noticed finer than average clothing and shoes swishing across the floor as they pass my averted eyes? doctors and nurses?

the covid virus is doing what viruses do and still mutating as it continues to circulate. there isnae much evidence that medical science has found the cure for the common cold or old age this time, either. sh-h-h-h. . . it's a global secret.

today i leave the mood icon squarely on "okay." i remain confused, but i've worked with less. i believe my little ship of fools is holding steady.

I sense too arfie that the summer vacation might bring on memories of their mom and dad.
with all that unstructured natural time off I know I would think of how the free time would mean
they would get to see their parents more if they were not passed.
I hope you guys can have some good times and create good memories together this summer!

i hadn't considered that angle. chew chew. . . for sure, it doesn't take much to remind them of that harsh fact of their lives. none of the kids ever had a summer vacay with mom and dad. the eldest was in kindergarten when he was taken into protective custody literally. he was in school when the scandal happened and the police picked him up from school. he was in first grade when they died. his sisters were 3 years and 8 months.

the global shutdown happened within months of burying their parents. it had already been almost a year since they lived with them. i sincerely believe losing their schools and world was harder on them than losing their parents. covidic summer vacation was a cruel and most memorable joke, whether we care to share the memories or knot.

prayers in progress for the creation of new and improved memories. we're hoping that a creative repeat of last year's road trip will help give them a sense of continuity by which to define summer vacation. just hoping. . .

one of my favorite aspects of the covidic politics was the closing of mcdonald's playscapes. the food is boring and i don't fit on the playscapes, but the children would play there every day, if i would let them. they don't eat much there, either. it's the playscape they adore.

mcdonald's is a heavily micromanaged franchise, but they havenae been any more consistent in their enforcement of the covidic mandates than the independent operators. after 2.5 years without their playscapes, the kids are still jonesing for their playscape time. i don't enjoy their burgers, but their breakfast ain't bad. there are 2 mcdonald's restaurants in this small agricultural community. we went to the first one and discovered they are still drive thru only. i breathed my way through the resulting covidic panic attack and lead the troop to the other mcdonald's. their ordering kiosks were still under covidic shutdown, but the rest of their services were up and running. we still remember how to order through old world means, and the cashier who took our order was wearing indecently exposed lips moving in real time continuity which i could read easily.

it has been a substantial number of weeks since i have heard of support for new government mandates, but the private mandates are still propagating at significant and far less predictable levels. as we prepare for the upcoming road trip, we are bracing for the covidic surprises. ^it^ isn't over yet.

nope, it ain't over and, with packing for the road trip in progress, i find myself settling into acceptance that it never will be. after 2.5 years of global government mandates, we can only evolve from here. i pretty much knew that by the end of march, 2020, but 'tis amazing how many things i **know** without accepting them. i still donae accept my childhood knowledge that "good girls" are masters of dick sucking and twat tickling. keep your mask on, daddy. . . don't make me read your lips. please increase your social distance.

i had to stop at one of the three available grocery stores for milk while i was running errands this morning. the cashier is one that i used to call, "hon" and she returned the favor. it took a while to recognize her through my mask phobia. i amnae sure when she quit calling me, "hon,." i be far from certain, but i donae believe those old endearments are part of her current mask muffle. hard telling in the absence of lip reading. for sure, i am still reflexively increasing my social distance and averting my eyes when she lifts her mask from her chin to her nose at my approach. i know, hon, it's nothing personal. i'm just another covidic threat. nothing personal on my side, either. just trying to survive the new world order.

we will be travelling through 3 states on the road trip, none of which have been covidic hot spots. there was still allot of unpredictable covidic compliance going on with no more consistency in interpretation than any other government mandated dogma i have observed. we see what unfolds.

i am excited beyond excited to be heading toward my beloved rivers. i miss them dearly.

thank you for that hot tip, missy. it hadn't hit my radar yet.

in actual fact, we will be in the ouchita mountains on monday and tuesday night, not far from both the ouchita river and the lake which provides its headwaters. a good perch from which to watch the strawberry supermoon sounds like a most excellent project for our first nights on the road.
