Is It Over?
The stability here onboard our little ship of fools is starting to feel sustainable enough to take for granted. The past few weekends have felt like welcome opportunities to rest and enjoy one another's company rather than yet another proverbial rug being pulled out from under us. Through school and sports, our social circle has widened enough that even Big Sis seems to be catching on to the diffs between a friendly stranger and a friend. Her five years on the planet have not afforded her much opportunity to observe the diffs up close and personal. At present, she is a terrifyingly easy mark for whatever predator might care to mark her.
Life willing and the maskites don't rise, this is feeling like a sustainable platform we can launch young lives from. Another maskite uprising still feels like an all too real possibility, but news of their current antics is getting harder and harder to come by. Many are the levels on which the obscurity frightens me far more than the public posturing. My up close and personal experience with individual germaphobic control freaks has me worried that another attack is pending. Control freaks love attention and losing their 15 minutes of fame makes them even meaner than seeing someone leave the restroom without washing their hands by proper protocols. Empowered control freaks seldom give up their power willingly. I fear the recently empowered collective even more than the individuals. Mob logic is even less logical than individual phobia.
Reminding myself to let the future take care of itself, I work to set **All That** aside and sink into gratitude for the peaceful morning at hand. Que sera sera. What will be will be. We'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.
