Is a Big Juicy Burger Worth it?
We widows/widowers go through an angry period. For me it was about 6 months after hubby passed. Now, I'm revisiting this feeling. I had lunch after leaving my exercise class, a delicious salad, vinegarette dressing. For me this is not a diet. I actually love salads, whole wheat pasta, baked over fried. I don't like fast food in any form. I'm over-weight due to a fondness for sugar, otherwise I eat healthy.
But not my husband. Show him a Big Mac and he was good to go. Lots of sodium too. I'd talk and talk about his diet. We were both bad, but our poison was entirely different. He liked salty snacks too.
I stopped off at the drug store after my lunch to take my blood pressure. It's been going down like crazy, so I'm watching carefully 'cause the doctor said I can eliminate some meds. Anyhow, I saw a large man heading to the pharmcy. He was hugely over-weight. I felt so sorry for him. He's a victim of this food obsessed world we live in. He doesn't want to be like that. No large person does.
we don't wake up every morning, thinking I want my knees to hurt. I want to sweat like a pig. I want no man to find me attractive. I want heart disease, strokes, and anything else obesity related. No. We fat people want health and some of us still want to be attractive to the opposite sex even if we're not interested.
So, all of this went through my mind as I watched this man huff and puff his way back for his meds. I thought, how sad. How sad for this man. And how sad for his wife. For she may wake up one day to find herself in my shoes--living a life without the man she loves. And her children may find themselves learning to make their way in the world without their biggest supporter. And the grandkids...well, you get the picture.

Not every day but once in a while....I can only go so long before I want or should I say the body craves a big juicy hamburger or a steak.....but then I can go for months and not want them....the grilled chicken, salmon, pork, salads, fruits and vegetables are fine...I think the key is moderation and keep moving....hugs, Sandi
Im angry too and I am going through a phase of shoving chocolate in my gob to stuff down my emotions. I feel fit to explode. I am desperately fighting this and some days I will do something healthy such as take a bike ride or go for a walk but then I may spend the next week shoving in the chocolate. No I don\'t think people give it all a lot of thought, we just live our lives and get busy and then one day death comes and hits us in the face and we are stunned by it. I share your grief and your anger.
For me its the salty and the sweet. Did I tell you Smokey\'s oldest daughter finally contacted me via facebook on Monday. We chatted back and forth on facebook on general things. She gave me her phone number and call her after Tuesday. Well I am so nervous and anxious about all this. I stuffed my face with a bag of cheesies and 2 packages of Klondike bars over this whole entire week. I finished the cheesies 2 days ago and the Klondike bars now. I don\'t want to go that way again. I want to eat relatively healthy as I can, walk as much as I can and I always manage to sleep 8 - 9 hours a few days per week. I have to pull myself up by the boot straps and put my healthy up there on the priority scale and live as healthy as I chose to for me. All the best to you as well. Its not easy. I need to lose 20 lbs. to look good again. What about yourself? From Diane B.
