Insomnia

It's weird how we must learn to persevere through our struggles and yet too much can cause ill health and another break. We need to learn emotional intelligence to learn to manage and persevere and yet also for when we need to rest and heal.

I suffered sleep deprivation levels of insomnia for decades. Perhaps the most important breakthrough I made on that score was a sleep study out of Stanford University challenging the axiom that a regimented sleep schedule is necessary for good health. With that bit of validation from "experts" I began letting myself sleep like a dog; a little here and a little there according to the flows of the day rather than the strict regimen of the same 8 hours of every day, 7 days a week. It worked for me. I love how sleeping like a dog lets me have access to all 24 hours of the day. The daybreaker logics of "Day People" and "Night People" makes ever less sense to me. Every hour of the day and night has a special magic and the magic of life might show at any hour of any day. Dogs are ever ready for the shift.

But that need for rest and recuperation remains universal. I've never seen a dog go a day without rest. Some days it's funner than others.

Yup, juggling balls is fun, with a tolerant attitude.
