IBS, IC and Anxiety

I feel like my body is rebelling and breaking down on me. I am still not over the IBS and on Friday I started showing signs of a bladder infection. A local clinic tested my urine and sent it off for a culture. I got a prescription of antibiotics. Yesterday morning, I woke feeling really bad - kinda feverish like when you are getting the flu. Thinking the infection was getting worse, I headed to the ER. They didn't even believe I ever had an infection. My urine was clean.
Why do doctors not understand when you tell them of your symptoms. Maybe instead of urinary urgency, I should tell them it feels like my bladder is stuck in a vicegrip. When they ask to describe the pain on a scale of 1 to 10, I should say "45". The pain is horrible, and no medication seems to help this. It's good to know the infection is clearing up, but I am in terrible pain. I am supposed to go back to the clinic to see what the lab results were. They are not going to tell me over the phone. I need to go back for a follow up visit so that I can pay them more money.
I am reading that there are lots of women that experience both IBS and IC, which both seem to be related to anxiety. So do I see a urologist, GI specialist, or  a shrink? We can't afford all these doctor visits, but worrying about finances is probably making all of the medical problems worse.
I do have a follow up visit with the gatroenterologist next in a few weeks. Since he is also the doctor that originally diagnosed my anxiety, maybe he can give more insight and advice. I am actually sick of going to doctors. The ones I have been to lately seem to know a lot less than doctors of long ago.
We think we have found a school for our youngest daughter in September. It is run like a homeschool. She can get much better attention there, and she did well when she went for 2 days of their summer school program. We talk to the principal on Thursday to finalize everything.
And just so I don't leave out my eldest daughter, this week she is spending time at a Dolphin Camp. They learn about sea mammals and get to swim with the dolphins later this week. She is having a great time.
Sorry for making this so long. Hope all my friends here are doing better than me right now.
HUGS

I\'m so sorry you feel so bad. If it\'s the bladder I would see a urologist. But I am not in your body so it has to be your choice.
That is good about both of your daughters. I have always wanted to swim with the dolphins. But probably never get too.
Lots hugs and prayers for you going out.

Sorry to hear your body is turning against you! It does feel that way sometimes! Once I had a bladder infection that made me pee about 20 times in half an hour. I never knew a bladder could hold so much! Now that I\'m a senior, I\'m glad when I don\'t need to go! Blessings and hope for quick relief.

I have IC. it flare to your bladder feels like you are dying, for me it is worse then a urinary infection, there is no real cure either. I have bladder spasms, it like the wind is knocked out you sometimes where I would simply be bent over. That kind of a spasm so when you say it feels like it in a vice, it does feel like this. It burns, it feels like you have to go all the time. I would get no sleep. I would get up sometime every ten minutes because it felt like I had to urniate. I felt like I was going nuts. Because I got no sleep. I didn\'t have anyone to take care either. The best person to see is a urologist. Definitely mention that you have Fibro and IBS. It is well more common in women with these conditions. There are installations you can get to help with the pain. It involves being catheterized and having heparin and litocaine put in your bladder. I don\'t if there is anything different they do now. I have been on Elmiron for years. I took six months to work which double the time it supposed to start helping. I had installations for about ten years and then for some reason I was able to control it throught my diet or maybe the Elmiron stopped most it. the list is most acidic things, but it also includes nuts and some other foods. The list I was given was pretty overwhelming and it said you would have to see if these things caused irritation or flares. My urologist just happened to be a urology surgeon along with a Ob/Gyn. So she was really the first urologist who diagnosed me. This was about twenty years ago. So there is hope if you find a good doctor. Also there is an IC group on DS. There may be newer things others are doing. I would suggest you go to there site also. I really think you have IC from all the things you say about your urine being clean. I hope I have helped.
