I was the better person!

Well, Mother's Day came and went.  The anxiety of whether to send an e-card, to step-mom really tired me out.  However, I did send her the card and felt like the better person, and part of me was forgiving and content.  No, she did not send me a thank you which I expected.  I think I mostly did it for my dad and no one else.  Then I think about now, my dad probably doesn't even care whether I do or not.  Now Father's Day is coming up.  I will call my dad, and if he doesn't want to talk to me that's fine, I will still feel good inside.
My life hasn't felt better in years.  No more migraines (thank god) and I feel no more anxiety and fear when I am around them.  I have a wonderful relationship with my birth mom now, and couldn't ask for anything more.  Very grateful.
It has been 10 months since I spoke to the extended family and feel that right now I need people who love and care for me to be in my life, not evil, conniving people.  Even if they are called family.  I find my friends to be more of family to me than any other member of my extended family.
I am grateful, for my husband who has been wonderful and supportive, my children for making me laugh, my friends for supporting me and telling me, "that I did nothing wrong by finding my birth mom", my community for also supporting me,  the Daily Strength friends for also supporting me, and my birth mom for giving me the chance to feel how it is to be loved by a mom.  Thank you all!!
