I wanna be a kid again!
Well, Tim is home, so I'm cooking again. He said the hosts fed them very well on their mission trip, but he ate like he was starving Friday night! We went out to eat at the Mustang Grill Saturday night. He devoured a 16 oz. ribeye. On the drive to the Grill, I had to detour around a car show in the middle of Greenville. Oh my!!!!! Old cars, new cars, mustangs, corvettes! Kentucky is famous for Corvettes, don cha know??? The only place in the world that makes Corvettes is in Bowling Green, Kentucky! I want a Stingray!!!!
After supper Friday, we went for a little walk --- maybe a mile, total. On the way home, we detoured up my brother's driveway. His nine year old daughter came out with a softball, and I couldn't resist! I asked her if she wanted to play catch! She had a glove on my hand in a New York minute. My brother told her to take it easy on me ---- I'm old, so he says.
I didn't know if I could do it! I tire quickly, and I hadn't had a softball glove on my hand in 25 or 30 years. My niece has an arm on her ---- she can really throw for a nine year old! She a hind catcher on a team. On the third or fourth throw, I got clumsy and let the ball hit me in the face, right on the side of my nose! Do you know how much it hurts to get hit in the face with a regulation softball?? I shook it off and fired one back at her! I did better after that.
I might have lasted 10 or 15 minutes. When I quit, I was so exhausted that I was trembling. It wasn't just a friendly game of catch --- each one of us made the other move around some. I had to sit a while before I could walk the rest of the way home. I'm still paying for it a little bit today. But, man!!!! Was it ever worth it! I've got to do that again. doing something I love --step one in getting some muscles back!

What a wonderful detour to make! Yea, you wore yourself out, but like you said...it was SO worth it.
Gosh when we do these \"normal\" things, it really is a mixed bad of feelings. Kinda proud of ourselves and happy to be doing what we always did, yet also sad that those little bursts of energy are shortlived and there\'s always a price to pay. Doesn\'t quite seem fair...but I think that WE enjoy those little games of catch more than any outfielder on any team in the US of A.
Yes we do!
You done good!! Watch out for Red. Not sure you could outrun him at this point!.....!!
So glad you were able to feel that child-like freedom again. Even if only briefly! Isn\'t it funny...when we\'re kids, we can\'t wait to grow up and when we\'re adults, we want to feel like a kid again. :)
Good for you Nancy
